Racing Incident Report
RAIDER and WYNDAM EASY were slow to begin. On jumping, PALETTE NATURAL and ROOSEVELT bumped, as a result both horses lost ground. PERFECT PARTNER began awkwardly and shortly afterwards shifted in, causing some crowding to HO CHOI which as a result steadied, shifted out and caused some inconvenience to RAIDER. At the 900 Metres, WYNDAM EASY, which had been ridden along to make up ground, was steadied when awkwardly placed inside PERFECT PARTNER. Approaching the turn at the 800 Metres, PRIME WITNESS and KEY TO SUCCESS got their heads up and proved difficult to settle. At the 800 Metres, ROOSEVELT was steadied away from the heels of HO CHOI. Approaching and passing the 700 Metres, PRIME WITNESS raced tight inside KEY TO SUCCESS. In the middle stages, KEY TO SUCCESS raced wide and without cover. Approaching and passing the 300 Metres, WYNDAM EASY was held up and unable to obtain clear running behind GREAT DELIGHT. After obtaining clear running to the inside of GREAT DELIGHT, WYNDAM EASY hung in. Near the 200 Metres, KEY TO SUCCESS, which was giving ground, was steadied when crowded for room inside GOOD PROFIT (B Prebble) which when being ridden along got its head on the side and shifted in away from PERFECT PARTNER which itself shifted in at this time. B Prebble was told in similar circumstances he would be expected to stop riding and straighten his mount sooner than he did on this occasion. Apprentice C K Tong (ROOSEVELT) explained in the Straight the horse hung in quite badly, because of this he was not able to ride it out as he normally would. He said however he did continue to ride ROOSEVELT along hands and heels and near the 100 Metres he had to steady and shift out to avoid the heels of KEY TO SUCCESS. GREAT DELIGHT was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of GREAT DELIGHT after the race did not show any significant findings. GOOD PROFIT, PLANET RULER and PERFECT PARTNER were sent for sampling.
