Racing Incident Report

LIGHTING THE WORLD was withdrawn on 21.10.05 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter GLORIOUS LIGHT (K S Yu). Before being allowed to race again, LIGHTING THE WORLD will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. NEW TAMAR was slow to begin and shortly afterwards lost further ground as a result of being steadied when crowded for room between MAXIMUM JOY which shifted out and PRO JOY which on jumping was carried in by WING FOOT. BRILLIANT WIN began awkwardly and got its head up. GOOD TO GREAT began awkwardly and lost ground. SURE FORTUNE was slow to begin. At the 1100 Metres, NATURAL MODEL, which from its wide barrier was being taken back to a position with cover, was steadied to avoid the heels of MAJIN BUU which shifted in when not quite clear. No action was taken. Making the turn at the 700 Metres, BRILLIANT WIN hung out. From on straightening until near the 200 Metres, SURE FORTUNE was held up and unable to improve initially behind ABORIGINAL and then behind MAJIN BUU which was giving ground. Near the 200 Metres, BRILLIANT WIN, which was giving ground, was steadied when crowded for room inside ABORIGINAL which got its head on the side and shifted in away from MAJIN BUU which itself shifted ground while hanging. After the 200 Metres, GLORIOUS LIGHT, which was beginning to close the race off strongly, was steadied when disappointed for running between SURE FORTUNE and WING FOOT. Just prior to the winning post, NATURAL MODEL was steadied when crowded for room between MAXIMUM JOY and GOOD TO GREAT, both of which shifted ground. Throughout the race, WING FOOT raced wide and without cover. ABORIGINAL and PRO JOY were sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, it was reported both ABORIGINAL and MAJIN BUU had bled from both nostrils. A veterinary inspection of PRO JOY after the race did not show any significant findings. GOLDEN MILE and GOOD TO GREAT were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 24 October 2005)
PRO JOY, which performed poorly, was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. PRO JOY was again examined by the Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison at the stables of Trainer L Ho yesterday morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in the left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, PRO JOY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
