Racing Incident Report

After arriving in the saddling stalls, SHATIN WIN WIN had an adjustment made to its left front plate. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. On jumping, DANEMAN HILL and NAPA bumped. As a result of this, C Soumillon, the rider of DANEMAN HILL, became unbalanced. ACTIVE VALOUR, EXCELLENT PARTNERS and MAGNIFICENT HORSE were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. In the early stages, NAPA proved difficult to settle. Near the 150 Metres, JOYFUL YEARS, which was beginning to close the race off strongly, was steadied and shifted out after having initially got its head on the side and shifting in behind FUJIAN PRINCE. R Fradd (ACTIVE VALOUR) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 100 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of JOYFUL YEARS, causing that horse to strike the heels of ACTIVE VALOUR, blunder and almost fall. R Fradd was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Sunday 5 March 2006 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting on Sunday 26 February 2006. In addition, R Fradd was fined $20,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating 1 further raceday. Prior to the winning post, GOOD TO GREAT was shifted out away from the heels of CHAMP DE UNION which at this time shifted out. The performance of WINNING CHAMP, which tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, WINNING CHAMP will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. NAPA was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. A veterinary inspection of NAPA after the race did not show any significant findings. RED STORM RISING and DANEMAN HILL were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 16 February 2006)
The Veterinary Surgeon reported that JOYFUL YEARS was this morning found to be lame in the left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, JOYFUL YEARS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
