Racing Incident Report

DASH, FOURSQUARE and ISLAND SUNRISE were slow to begin. GOLDEN FARM was a little slow to begin. Shortly after the start, MAINLAND MASTER was hampered and carried wider by RACING SPIRIT which shifted out. For some distance after the 800 Metres, GOLDEN FARM raced tight inside GRASS HOPPER which had its head on the side and shifted in away from HAPPY SUNDAY. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, RACING SPIRIT shifted out and was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of BUDDIES SPIRIT. FOURSQUARE, which was following, was steadied in consequence. Prior to straightening, ISLAND SUNRISE was steadied when awkwardly placed between MAINLAND MASTER and FOURSQUARE which shifted out after making contact with RACING SPIRIT. On straightening, FOURSQUARE was steadied and shifted to the outside of GRASS HOPPER into clear running. At the 250 Metres, GOLDEN FARM was steadied away from the heels of SIR OCTAVIUS. Throughout the race, HAPPY SUNDAY travelled wide and without cover and in the early part of the Straight hung out. Following the race, B Prebble, the rider of MAINLAND MASTER, reported his mount raced most ungenerously and in the early stages hung in badly when GREAT IDEA travelled to its outside. He said near the 800 Metres MAINLAND MASTER became unbalanced in its action and blundered. He said after this he shifted MAINLAND MASTER wider and in the middle stages MAINLAND MASTER then hung out, however, in the Straight again hung in and proved difficult to ride. Mr Y S Tsui, trainer of MAINLAND MASTER, was told before the horse will be permitted to race again, it will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial around a bend under pressure. GREAT IDEA and HAPPY SUNDAY were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of GREAT IDEA and HAPPY SUNDAY after the race did not show any significant findings. BUDDIES SPIRIT, SIR OCTAVIUS and CHAMP DE UNION were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 25 May 2006)
GREAT IDEA, which performed poorly, was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. GREAT IDEA was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer A S Cruz this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to have restricted action in front. Before being allowed to race again, GREAT IDEA will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
