Racing Incident Report

During track work this morning, GLOBE RIVER dislodged its rider and completed two laps of the Small All Weather Track prior to being recaptured. Following track work, GLOBE RIVER was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. After arriving at the Start, it was noted the tongue tie fitted to PRIME MOVER had loosened. This tongue tie was re-applied prior to the horse being boxed. On jumping, SUGAR AND SON was checked when crowded for room between PROPELLOR and GLOBE RIVER which began awkwardly and shifted in abruptly. In this incident, PROPELLOR was also inconvenienced and lost ground. PRIME MOVER bounded in the air at the start and lost ground. SHINING DRAGON began awkwardly, got its head up, shifted out and lost further ground when steadied away from the heels of DANEMAN HILL. At the 1100 Metres, HAPPY MASTER was checked when awkwardly placed inside the heels of DANEMAN HILL which at this time got its head on the side and shifted in when racing tight inside MASTER YING which also had its head on the side and shifted ground while hanging. In the circumstances, no action was taken. Making the turn at the 1000 Metres, HARVEY MUDD was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of SHINING DRAGON which itself was steadied away from the heels of MASTER YING. Shortly after entering the Back Straight, SUGAR AND SON was steadied when crowded for room inside HARVEY MUDD which at this time got its head on the side and shifted in away from HAPPY MASTER. Near the 800 Metres, SOUND OF SILENCE was steadied when crowded for room inside GLOBE RIVER which got its head on the side and shifted in abruptly. At the 200 Metres, SUGAR AND SON was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of SHINING DRAGON which shifted in. Approaching and passing the 100 Metres, GLOBE RIVER was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of HARVEY MUDD. In the Straight, HARVEY MUDD hung in. Throughout the race, MASTER YING travelled wide and without cover. B Prebble (DANEMAN HILL) said making the turn at the 600 Metres DANEMAN HILL became unbalanced after making contact with KAISER'S CHOIX and immediately afterwards came under pressure. He said after this DANEMAN HILL did not travel and failed to stretch out as he thought it should. DANEMAN HILL was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. After the race, DANEMAN HILL was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, DANEMAN HILL will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. HAPPY MASTER was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of HAPPY MASTER after the race did not show any significant findings. KAISER'S CHOIX and PROPELLOR were sent for sampling.

DANEMAN HILL, which performed poorly, was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time an endoscopic examination showed a significant amount of blood in the horse's trachea. DANEMAN HILL was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer P F Yiu this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in the left front leg. As previously advised, DANEMAN HILL will be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.
