Racing Incident Report
FLAMING LAMBORGINI was withdrawn on 13.10.06 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (left fore suspensory injury). Before being allowed to race again, FLAMING LAMBORGINI will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. JOYFUL WINNER began awkwardly and lost ground. GREEN TREASURE bounded in the air at the start, shifted in and bumped HIGH INTELLIGENT. DAVE'S BEST and BOWMAN'S CROSSING were slow to begin. In the early stages, VIVA PATACA got its head up when being restrained. After the 400 Metres, BOWMAN'S CROSSING was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of DAVE'S BEST. At the 350 Metres, JOYFUL WINNER, which had been held up and unable to obtain clear running, was checked when disappointed for running between TIBER and HAIL THE STORM. After this, JOYFUL WINNER was shifted in. Passing the 300 Metres, DAVE'S BEST was steadied when held up and unable to improve between HIGH INTELLIGENT and THE DUKE. After the 200 Metres, DAVE'S BEST was again steadied when held up and unable to improve between THE DUKE and HIGH INTELLIGENT which at this time was giving ground. Apprentice H W Lai (SATURN) said he had been instructed to have the horse travelling where it was comfortable in a prominent position. He said he was asked not to ride the horse along in the early stages and also not to restrain it as in the past SATURN has commenced to race fiercely when being restrained. He said SATURN began well, he allowed the horse to travel forward at its own speed and when it was able to cross to the lead without being pressured, he allowed it to do so. He said he continued to allow SATURN to travel at the tempo where it was comfortable in the lead. The Stewards opened an inquiry into the running and riding of VIVA PATACA approaching and rounding the Home Turn and in the Straight. Evidence was taken from E Saint-Martin, rider of the horse, and Mr J Moore, trainer of the horse. The inquiry was adjourned to a date and time to be fixed. JOYFUL WINNER was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. BULLISH LUCK and VIVA PATACA were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of JOYFUL WINNER, BULLISH LUCK and VIVA PATACA after the race did not show any significant findings. GREEN TREASURE and THE DUKE were sent for sampling.
