Racing Incident Report

LIONS’ FORTUNE was withdrawn on 27.3.09 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right hind) and was replaced by second Standby Declared Starter PAR EXCELLENCE (J Lloyd). MUTUAL FRIENDSHIP, first Standby Declared Starter, was also withdrawn on 27.3.09 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (blood abnormality). Before being allowed to race again, LIONS’ FORTUNE and MUTUAL FRIENDSHIP will both be subjected to an official veterinary examination. BIG KAHUNA was slow to begin. On jumping, GRAND GENERAL stumbled and was then bumped by PAR EXCELLENCE which shifted ground after being bumped by FLY ME TO THE MOON. MAVERICK also stumbled on jumping. In the early stages, LUFENG FORTUNE was allowed to drift back. At the 1200 Metres, BIG KAHUNA became unbalanced when momentarily crowded for room inside CIRCUIT HERO which shifted in while being steadied when momentarily crowded for room inside FLY ME TO THE MOON which was carried in by SAVUTE (Apprentice T H So). MAVERICK, which was following, was steadied in consequence. Apprentice So was told to exercise care. On straightening, LEADER, which was attempting to shift out to obtain clear running, struck the heels of PRECISION MAGIC and fell, causing Y T Cheng, its rider, to be dislodged. At this time, PRECISION MAGIC was momentarily steadied away from the heels of BEST NOODLE which commenced to give ground. When LEADER fell, PAR EXCELLENCE and GRAND GENERAL were severely inconvenienced when attempting to avoid the fallen horse. Y T Cheng was told to ensure there was sufficient room before endeavouring to shift his mount to obtain clear running. Following the race, Y T Cheng was examined by the Club’s doctor who said he was fit to fulfil his remaining riding engagements. LEADER was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, LEADER was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was lame in the right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, LEADER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. In the run to the line, MAVERICK, which was closing the race off fairly, was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of LUCKY BO BO. As a consequence, MAVERICK was not ridden out fully to the end of the race. Throughout the race, BEST NOODLE travelled wide and without cover. CIRCUIT HERO and SAVUTE were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported PRECISION MAGIC had lost its left front plate and GRAND GENERAL had sustained a laceration to the outside of its left front pastern.
