Racing Incident Report
NIC'S CUTE began awkwardly. CHERISHED and FABULOUS were slow to begin. When questioned, R Fradd (FABULOUS) said after the 600 Metres when DIVINE FEELING improved around his outside, in his opinion it did so relatively quickly and he was unaware it was doing so. He said at that stage BROWN BEAUTY was racing to his inside and he was following MEMBERS GLORY which also shifted out a little, it had been his intention to remain racing in that position into the Straight. He said shortly after straightening he was aware DIVINE FEELING was laying in and when it shifted some ground he felt he was going to lose his position between that horse and BROWN BEAUTY, he therefore steadied his mount and shifted it to the outside of DIVINE FEELING into clear running. He said after this FABULOUS finished the race off only fairly. He added for him to have shifted out after the 600 Metres he would have in his opinion caused interference to DIVINE FEELING. R Fradd was advised his riding after the 600 Metres until the early part of the Straight was of concern to the Stewards and he was told whilst all riders are expected to ride safely, in circumstances similar to today's race he would be expected to ride more competitively and provide his mounts with clear running wherever possible. The performances of MILLENNIUM SUPREME and NIC'S CUTE, which tailed out, were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, MILLENNIUM SUPREME and NIC'S CUTE will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. DIVINE FEELING and MILLENNIUM SUPREME were sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of both DIVINE FEELING and MILLENNIUM SUPREME after the race did not show any significant findings. MEMBERS GLORY and MASTER MARAUDER were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Report (released on 10 November 2003)
DIVINE FEELING, which performed poorly, was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. DIVINE FEELING was again examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer D A Hayes yesterday. He said at this time the horse was found to be slightly stiff in both front legs. Before being permitted to race again, DIVINE FEELING will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
