Racing Incident Report

TOM'S FIRST and TOY QUEST were slow to begin. On jumping, ABORIGINAL and BEST FOR ALL bumped. LUCKY STALLION began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped ROYAL ARMY. T Mundry (LOYAL DEVOTION) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 1200 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of BRAVE KNIGHT which was carried in across the running of LUCKY STALLION which as a result was checked. T Mundry was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Sunday 23 November 2003 on which day he may resume race riding (3 Hong Kong race days). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin meeting next Wednesday 12 November 2003. In the early stages, ABORIGINAL proved difficult to settle and near the 1200 Metres was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of DILIGENT which shifted in slightly. At about the 1000 Metres, ALL THE BEST was steadied to avoid the heels of GOOD FRIENDS (K C Tsang) which shifted in when not clear. TOY QUEST, which was following, was checked in consequence. K C Tsang was severely reprimanded and told in similar circumstances he would be expected to ensure he is properly clear before shifting ground. Near the 800 Metres, DILIGENT was checked when crowded for room between LOYAL DEVOTION which shifted in and BEST FOR ALL which shifted out slightly away from ALL THE BEST which made the turn awkwardly. In the circumstances, the Stewards were unable to attribute responsibility for this incident to one rider and therefore no action was taken. Near the 600 Metres, SUPER SPRINT jumped a patch on the track. After the 600 Metres, TOY QUEST was steadied when disappointed for running between BEST FOR ALL and ALL THE BEST which shifted out from behind GOOD FRIENDS. DILIGENT was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. After the race, DILIGENT was examined by the Veterinary Officer. No abnormalities were detected. TOM'S FIRST and BRAVE KNIGHT were sent for sampling. Following the race, it was reported MY FAVOURITE had bled from both nostrils.
