| 4 | 9 | YOUTHFUL SPIRITS (J082) | Apprentice E C W Wong (HARMONY FIRE) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the 700 Metres he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of YOUTHFUL SPIRITS, resulting in YOUTHFUL SPIRITS having to be restrained to avoid the heels of HARMONY FIRE. Apprentice Wong was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Sunday, 7 April 2024 and to expire on Thursday, 11 April 2024 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In addition, Apprentice Wong was fined $10,000. In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 3 and the consequences grade 1 and also considered his neutral race riding record. |

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of HAPPY UNITED was considered to be disappointing as compared to its previous race starts. Before being allowed to race again, HAPPY UNITED will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. |
