Racing Incident Report

OCTA LUCKY STAR was withdrawn on 12.4.03 on veterinary grounds (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter TEA FOR CHAMP (H K Yim). Before being allowed to race again, OCTA LUCKY STAR will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. While being weighed prior to the race, NORTHERN FLYER sustained a small laceration to its right hind leg. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. PRETTY DOUBLE bounded in the air at the start, became badly unbalanced on landing and consequently lost a significant amount of ground. On jumping, NORTHERN FLYER got its head up. CHEERFUL FORTUNE was a little slow to begin and then was brushed by TEA FOR CHAMP which on jumping shifted out. At the 200 Metres, FOUR ACES was carried wider when brushed on several occasions by FLASHING STAR which got its head on the side and shifted out. After this, FOUR ACES was shifted to the inside of FLASHING STAR to obtain clear running. MULTIDANDY and FLASHING STAR were sent for sampling. After the race, it was noted KINGSTON WINNER was bleeding from the right nostril. An endoscopic examination was carried out. This showed the bleeding to be from the nasal passage, therefore the horse was not reported as having bled.
