Racing Incident Report
KING'S PATROL was a little slow to begin and shortly afterwards was bumped by DOLPHIN STAR which shifted in abruptly. LUCKY FRIENDS was slow to begin. TOP DANCER began awkwardly. From a wide gate, TORI TOP was obliged to race wide and without cover throughout and after straightening gave ground. After the 1200 Metres, TOP DANCER was steadied when close to the heels of BUCK'S FIZZ. After the 600 Metres, RECOGNITION was steadied when close to the heels of SPARKLE, after the 400 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running between DOLPHIN STAR and WATCHMAN, then near the 300 Metres was struck over the nose on two occasions by the whip of W Smith (WATCHMAN). Shortly after the 400 Metres, TOP DANCER was steadied and shifted out when disappointed for running between BUCK'S FIZZ and TORI TOP which was giving ground. After the 200 Metres, BUCK'S FIZZ was momentarily steadied to avoid the heels of TOP DANCER (J Quinn) which shifted in when not quite clear. J Quinn was severely reprimanded and advised to exercise more care. J Quinn was also severely reprimanded for making a celebratory gesture prior to the winning post. SEA PEARL was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, SEA PEARL was examined by the Veterinary Officer. No abnormalities were made. RECOGNITION, TOP DANCER and BAYVIEW LAD were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Report (released on 22 September 2003)
After the race, SEA PEARL, which performed poorly, was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. SEA PEARL was again examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer D Hill this morning and at this time was found to be lame in the right hind leg.
Before being permitted to race again, SEA PEARL will be required to pass an official veterinary examination.
