Racing Incident Report

GRASS HOPPER and WIN HUNTER were slow to begin. On jumping, JOYFUL MASTER stumbled. When the gates opened, MANGROVE bounded in the air and then was bumped by BIG WINNER which after beginning awkwardly shifted in. As a consequence of this, both MANGROVE and BIG WINNER lost ground. Approaching the turn at the 700 Metres, WIN HUNTER brushed the running rail. Then making the turn at the 700 Metres, WIN HUNTER bumped the running rail, became unbalanced and was steadied when racing tight inside SHERIFF BAMBOO which itself was awkwardly placed inside the heels of FANTASTIC HORSE. No action was taken. At the 500 Metres, WIN HUNTER again bumped the running rail and became unbalanced when awkwardly placed close to the heels of SHERIFF BAMBOO. At the 400 Metres, GLORIOUS LIGHT was checked away from the heels of MANGROVE. After the 300 Metres, BIG WINNER was steadied when disappointed for running between TRUST ME and JOYFUL MASTER. BIG WINNER was then shifted to the outside of JOYFUL MASTER into clear running and this caused some inconvenience to LUCKY CORDELIA. Near the 200 Metres, W Woods (JOYFUL MASTER) had the whip knocked from his hand by the whip of Y Lerner (TRUST ME). A Starke (FANTASTIC HORSE) said near the 500 Metres he was aware SHERIFF BAMBOO was attempting to improve on his inside. He said he looked to his inside to check on the position of SHERIFF BAMBOO. He said approaching and making the Home Turn there was calling from the rider of SHERIFF BAMBOO which was racing to his inside, so he again looked to his inside to ensure he was not causing interference to this horse. He said after this he continued to hold his line until shortly after straightening when he placed FANTASTIC HORSE under pressure, however, the horse did not respond and this enabled SHERIFF BAMBOO to quicken and obtain clear running to his inside. GOLDEN DRAGON and WIN HUNTER were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of GOLDEN DRAGON after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, WIN HUNTER was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a significant amount of mucus in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, WIN HUNTER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. BIG WINNER, SHERIFF BAMBOO and LUCKY CORDELIA were sent for sampling.
