Racing Incident Report

After being boxed, SUPER became fractious and broke through underneath front gates of its stall riderless. SUPER was quickly re-captured by the outriders and returned to the Start where it was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said after the necessary consultations with W M Lai, the rider, the horse was suitable to race. When breaking through, SUPER damaged the front gates on barrier 12, therefore the horses drawn 12 and wider were moved out one stall. After being re-boxed, SUPER again became fractious and reared over backwards. Acting on veterinary advice that SUPER was lame in the left hind leg and was not suitable to race, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of the horse. Before being allowed to race again, SUPER will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When SUPER broke through the gates, SOLDIER ON became fractious. The horse was removed from the stall and examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said it was suitable to race. When SUPER became fractious and reared over, HARVEY MUDD, which was drawn to its outside, was kicked. HARVEY MUDD was removed from the stall and examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. As the gates opened, BUDDIES SPIRIT reared and consequently was slow to begin. NICKU NICKU was slow to begin. FOR YOUR EYES ONLY began awkwardly. On jumping, DO IT WELL stumbled. SOLDIER ON began awkwardly, bumped the outside gate of its stall and then shifted out abruptly. Near the 800 Metres, BUDDIES SPIRIT became unbalanced when awkwardly placed inside the heels of STAR OF LIHLIN. At the 800 Metres, STAR OF LIHLIN got its head up and shifted out. After the 600 Metres, SUN POWER bumped the running rail and became unbalanced when momentarily crowded for room inside TROPHY which momentarily shifted in. TAKING THE LEAD, which was following SUN POWER, was checked and shifted out to avoid the heels of that horse. BUDDIES SPIRIT was steadied in consequence and shifted out away from the heels of TAKING THE LEAD and this caused STAR OF LIHLIN to be hampered and lose its position. No action was taken. Prior to straightening, WINNING PARADE became unbalanced. Passing the 400 Metres, NICKU NICKU was held up and unable to improve when racing close to the heels of TAKING THE LEAD which itself was endeavouring to shift to the outside of TROPHY to obtain clear running. Approaching and passing the 200 Metres, NICKU NICKU was again held up and unable to improve between SOLIDER ON and TROPHY, both of which were giving ground. After the 200 Metres, NICKU NICKU was checked when disappointed for running between those two horses. Approaching and passing the 100 Metres, SMILING FOREST was held up and unable to improve between TROPHY which was giving ground and BUDDIES SPIRIT. SOLDIER ON was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. A veterinary examination of SOLDIER ON after the race did not show any significant findings. TROPHY was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, TROPHY was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a significant amount of mucus in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, TROPHY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. TAKING THE LEAD and HARVEY MUDD were sent for sampling.
