Racing Incident Report

SHINING DRAGON began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped SUPER SPRINT. On jumping, STOIC and ASSET PLAY bumped. Making the turn after the winning post on the first occasion, TEMMOKU became unbalanced when being steadied while laying in and awkwardly placed inside the heels of CZAR OF PRUSSIA. Near the 500 Metres, MILLENNIUM SPIRIT was checked when disappointed for running inside LUCKY STALLION. For a considerable distance after straightening, GOODWOOD was held up and unable to improve when racing behind ARROGANCE which was giving ground. In the early part of the Straight, MILLENNIUM SPIRIT was steadied and shifted out to find clear running. Near the 300 Metres when giving ground, ARROGANCE was momentarily steadied when crowded for room between ASSET PLAY which shifted out slightly and SHINING DRAGON which shifted in. When questioned, Y Lerner (MILLENNIUM SPIRIT) said he was having his second ride in a race on the All Weather surface today. He said the only other ride was previously on MILLENNIUM SPIRIT when the horse raced at the rear, remained on the inside and was able to save good ground along the rail after the 500 Metres. He said therefore today again he intended to ride MILLENNIUM SPIRIT in a rearward position and ensure he found the rail in the hope that he would be able to save ground rounding the Home Turn. He said because of this after beginning well he immediately took hold of MILLENNIUM SPIRIT and dropped to the rear of the field on the rail, however, in today's race other runners remained on the rail which prevented him from making ground in the middle stages. He did say he attempted to improve on the inside of LUCKY STALLION after the 600 Metres, however, there was insufficient room for him to do so. Y Lerner was told his explanation would be reported. ASSET PLAY was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. WISE CHOICE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of ASSET PLAY and WISE CHOICE after the race did not show any significant findings. SPLIT SECONDS and MILLENNIUM SPIRIT were sent for sampling.
