Racing Incident Report

MA WAN MIRACLE was slow to begin. The performance of MA WAN MIRACLE, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, MA WAN MIRACLE will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. TIGER STORM began awkwardly, shifted out, bumped the hindquarters of STRIKE TO WIN and as a consequence lost ground. GOOD VIEW SUCCESS began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped STEP FORWARD. Shortly after the start, STRIKE TO WIN was steadied when crowded for room between DRAGON STRIDE and THUNDER MAN, both of which shifted ground. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, STRIKE TO WIN was steadied when crowded for room inside GOOD VIEW SUCCESS which had been ridden along to make up ground and at this time was itself steadied when crowded for room inside AURELIAN (Apprentice H W Lai). As Apprentice Lai attempted to relieve the pressure, STEP FORWARD shifted across to race to his outside which prevented him from shifting wider. In the circumstances, Apprentice Lai was advised to exercise greater care. Making the turn after the 1200 Metres, GOOD VIEW SUCCESS proved difficult to settle and raced three wide and without cover. Prior to straightening, CHINOOK was steadied and disappointed for running between STRIKE TO WIN and HARVEY MUDD which shifted in. TIGER STORM, which was following, was checked and shifted out abruptly to avoid the heels of CHINOOK. Also prior to straightening, GOOD VIEW SUCCESS was bumped by QI'S PET which shifted out after making contact with the running rail. DRAGON STRIDE, which was following QI'S PET, was steadied in consequence. Shortly after straightening, THUNDER MAN was steadied and shifted in away from the heels of DRAGON STRIDE. Near the 200 Metres, QI'S PET, which had been carried in by GOOD VIEW SUCCESS, was shifted out to avoid the heels of SHINING DRAGON. When questioned regarding the poor performance of GOOD VIEW SUCCESS, D Whyte said his mount travelled comfortably in the run, however, in the Straight when under pressure hung in badly and gave ground. He said in the run to the winning post he was well beaten, however, he was not able to ride his mount out as it shifted in to be awkwardly placed close to the heels of STEP FORWARD. TIGER STORM and GOOD VIEW SUCCESS were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of TIGER STORM and GOOD VIEW SUCCESS after the race did not show any significant findings. AURELIAN and THUNDER MAN were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 1 December 2005)
TIGER STORM, which performed poorly, was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. TIGER STORM was again examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer A T Millard this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in the left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, TIGER STORM will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
