Racing Incident Report

LUCKY CHAMPION was withdrawn on raceday morning by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (swollen left fore cannon). Before being allowed to race again, LUCKY CHAMPION will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Mr P O'Sullivan, trainer of AQUA-TREASURE, was fined $3,000 for presenting the horse in the Parade Ring in pacifier instead of pacifier with cowls which was the horse's declared gear. BLISS STAR began awkwardly, got its head up and lost a considerable amount of ground. Before being allowed to race again, BLISS STAR will have to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. MAGIC TEMPLE was slow to begin. GLOBAL WIN began awkwardly and lost ground. Near the 600 Metres, PRESENT TREASURE commenced to over-race, was steadied and shifted out away from ARROGANCE. Approaching and passing the 200 Metres, LAZY BUDDIES had difficulty obtaining clear running. Throughout the race, ARROGANCE travelled wide and without cover. When questioned regarding the poor performance of PHANTOM THIEF, C K Tong said the horse had been of recent times racing over shorter distances than the 1650 Metres of today's race. He said PHANTOM THIEF only gave ground over the final 100 Metres and in his opinion did not handle the step-up in distance today. PHANTOM THIEF was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. PRESENT TREASURE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of PHANTOM THIEF and PRESENT TREASURE after the race did not show any significant findings. WADADELIGHT and AQUA-TREASURE were sent for sampling.

AQUA-TREASURE
The Veterinary Officer reported that AQUA-TREASURE was yesterday morning found to be lame in the right front foot. Before being allowed to race again, AQUA-TREASURE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
PHANTOM THIEF
PHANTOM THIEF, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. PHANTOM THIEF was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer A S Cruz yesterday morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in the left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, PHANTOM THIEF will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
