1 14 AMAZING DUCK (H392) Sent for sampling post-race.
2 1 BEAUTY CRESCENT (H334) From the 350 Metres was held up behind BEAUTY FIT and SWIFT ASCEND and did not obtain clear running until near the 200 Metres when it shifted to the outside of SWIFT ASCEND. Sent for sampling post-race.
3 6 BEAUTY FIT (E279) Jumped awkwardly, shifted in and was bumped.
4 3 JOYFUL HUNTER (H198) Near the 650 Metres commenced to race keenly and was steadied away from SWIFT ASCEND, resulting in JOYFUL HUNTER being shifted to a three wide position thereafter. Sent for sampling post-race.
5 7 JOLLY RULER (E346) After the 350 Metres was held up for clear running behind MASSIVE ACTION and then did not secure clear running until near the 200 Metres.
6 10 STORM LEGEND (G139) Raced tight for a short distance on jumping.
7 11 FLYING MOJITO (G412) No report.
8 4 LESLIE (E471) No report.
9 13 SWIFT ASCEND (H395) Crowded at the start. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. <15/1/2024 Additional Veterinary Reports>SWIFT ASCEND, which performed disappointingly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time there were no significant findings. SWIFT ASCEND was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer D J Whyte yesterday morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, SWIFT ASCEND will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
10 8 ORIENTAL SMOKE (E467) No report.
11 9 JUMBO FORTUNE (G195) Slow to begin and then from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Near the 150 Metres lay out slightly and then was steadied to avoid LESLIE (K C Leung) which shifted in to obtain clear running. K C Leung was advised to exercise more care.
12 2 FASHION LEGEND (J080) No report.
13 5 MASSIVE ACTION (E445) Jumped awkwardly. After the race, Apprentice E C W Wong stated that with the pace from the start being run inside of standard, his mount was not able to lead the event. He said when placed under pressure in the Home Straight MASSIVE ACTION lay in, did not respond to his riding and weakened over the final 150 Metres. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
14 12 I CAN (H381) Became fractious in the barriers and sat down for a short period. Removed from the barriers, examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race. Before being allowed to race again, I CAN will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. Jumped only fairly and then was badly crowded by SWIFT ASCEND which was taken in by BEAUTY FIT. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
