Racing Incident Report

Whilst parading before the race, OUR CLASS cast its right fore plate. OUR CLASS was returned to the saddling stalls to have this plate reset. After arriving at the start, the horse was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon. He said in his opinion the horse was suitable to race and he also noted a small cut to the tip of the tongue of OUR CLASS. BULLISH LUCK was slow to begin. ABLE CHOICE began awkwardly and hit the inside gate of its barrier. On jumping, OUR CLASS got its head up, shifted out abruptly and bumped TRILLION WIN which was taken in by MY HONOUR. Also on jumping, VICTORY MARBLE got its head up. At the 1000 Metres, MY HONOUR and HELENE PILLAGING were checked when crowded for room between TRILLION WIN which got its head on the side and shifted out away from the heels of VICTORY MARBLE and GEM OF INDIA which got its head on the side and shifted in away from MASTER FAY. Although the incident was one of some significance, the Stewards were of the opinion it was accidental and therefore no action was taken. After this, TRILLION WIN hung out for a short distance. A Suborics (MASTER FAY) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that at about the 800 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of HELENE PILLAGING, causing that horse to be unnecessarily crowded and checked. After considering the circumstances of this case, it was decided the appropriate penalty was for A Suboric's licence to ride in races be suspended until Sunday 16 March 2003 on which day he may resume race riding (4 Hong Kong race days). The commencement of this suspension was deferred until after the Happy Valley meeting next Wednesday 26 February 2003. For some distance approaching and passing the 200 Metres, SOLID CONTACT was held up and unable to obtain clear running behind WINNING COUNTER which was giving ground. HELENE PILLAGING was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of HELENE PILLAGING did not reveal any significant findings. ABLE CHOICE and GEM OF INDIA were sent for sampling.
