Racing Incident Report

Following the running of Race 1, the Stewards interviewed Mr A Lee, trainer of FLYING TAMARI regarding the horse's track work in the days leading up to this race. Mr Lee explained following being attended to by the farrier on 20 November 2006 FLYING TAMARI had slight soreness in its left front foot. Mr Lee said because of this he did not work FLYING TAMARI for two days and then restricted it to exercise in the trotting ring. He said FLYING TAMARI had worked on the Small All Weather Track both yesterday and this morning. He said there was no soreness evident in FLYING TAMARI's foot when the horse was presented for its official pre-race veterinary examination, however, he did advise the Veterinary Officer conducting that examination of the circumstances. The Veterinary Officer said at the time he examined FLYING TAMARI yesterday there was no soreness evident in the foot of FLYING TAMARI and in his opinion the horse was suitable to race. Mr Lee added as this was FLYING TAMARI's third run from a spell, he believed the horse's fitness was such that this incident would not impact upon its performance today. After arriving at the Parade Ring, FLYING TAMARI was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion the horse was suitable to race. On jumping, HE CAN TANGO got its head up. At the start, HOLIGAN lost ground after bumping with OCEAN TRANQUIL. Shortly after the start, ROMANTIC WINNER got its head on the side, shifted in and was steadied away from the heels of EVERGREEN. At the 800 Metres, ROMANTIC WINNER and GRAND CRU bumped and became unbalanced. After the 800 Metres, HE CAN TANGO got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of OCEAN TRANQUIL. Approaching and passing the 600 Metres, OCEAN TRANQUIL hung out. After the 400 Metres, TOWN OF DRAGON shifted out in an endeavour to obtain clear running on the outside of PICTURE PERFECT. For some distance near the 300 Metres, TOWN OF DRAGON was steadied when unable to obtain clear running between PICTURE PERFECT and FLYING TAMARI. After the 200 Metres, TOWN OF DRAGON was momentarily steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of PICTURE PERFECT. Over about the final 100 Metres, HOLIGAN, which was closing the race off strongly, was not fully tested when having difficulty obtaining clear running. Near the 50 Metres, Apprentice C W Wong (EVERGREEN) momentarily dropped his left rein. HE CAN TANGO and FLYING TAMARI were sent for sampling.
