Racing Incident Report
TAI SMART was slow to begin.
After being bumped by ACCLAIMED LIGHT on jumping, ALPHA HEDGE became unbalanced and shifted out, resulting in TENNESSEE BOSS, CROWN AVENUE and CHARITY GRAND being crowded for room inside POLYMER LUCK which also shifted in. After this, from wide barriers, TENNESSEE BOSS, CROWN AVENUE and CHARITY GRAND were all shifted across behind runners.
Passing the 1550 Metres, GREAT JOY momentarily raced tight between THE SYLPH and LITTLE ISLAND which was racing tight inside MAJESTIC ENDEAVOUR which shifted in before being directed back out to relieve the tightening.
H N Wong (MAJESTIC ENDEAVOUR) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the winning post on the first occasion he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of LITTLE ISLAND, causing that horse to be taken in onto GREAT JOY which as a result was checked and lost the running to which it was rightfully entitled. H N Wong was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 6 March 2019 and to expire on Monday, 11 March 2019 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).
Passing the 1200 Metres, LITTLE ISLAND was momentarily awkwardly placed close to the heels of HAPPY WARRIOR.
After the 600 Metres, CHARITY GRAND was left racing wide and without cover.
Near the 450 Metres, TAI SMART, which was laying out, was awkwardly placed inside THE SYLPH when improving into tight running inside that horse.
Passing the 300 Metres, TENNESSEE BOY raced tight outside THE SYLPH which shifted out.
Near the 150 Metres, MAJESTIC ENDEAVOUR momentarily raced tight inside ALPHA HEDGE which got its head on the side and lay in when commencing to give ground.
After the race, J Moreira stated that ALPHA HEDGE’s disappointing run could be attributed to the fact that the horse was left racing wide and without cover after the 1100 Metres and then had to be ridden along for some distance after the 800 Metres to clear POLYMER LUCK to shift in to race outside HAPPY WARRIOR near the 600 Metres. He said because of the circumstances of the race, in his opinion, ALPHA HEDGE was not able to finish off its race. A veterinary inspection of ALPHA HEDGE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

HAPPY WARRIOR and CHARITY GRAND were sent for sampling.
<14/2/2019 Additional Veterinary Report>The Veterinary Surgeon reported that GREAT JOY was lame in its left front leg on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, GREAT JOY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
