When questioned Z Purton stated that after holding a position behind midfield he had some difficulty obtaining clear running between the 500 Metres and the 300 Metres when being shifted to the outside of YEE CHEONG GLORY. He said after obtaining clear running to the outside of YEE CHEONG GLORY near the 250 Metres SPARKLING FELLOW commenced to respond well to his hands and heels riding and when he was satisfied the horse was at its top being ridden in this manner, he continued to ride the horse hands and heels to the winning post, particularly when racing tight to the outside of the winner GOLD PATCH. Sent for sampling post-race.
11 3 TOP THRONE (K116) 2 L Ferraris Jumped only fairly. Near the 300 Metres made contact with BULLISH PRIDE due to both runners shifting ground. L Ferraris stated that the horse was disadvantaged by racing towards the centre of the track. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported.

7 5 SKY CAP (K125) 5 E C W Wong (-5) When questioned Apprentice E C W Wong stated that his mount hung in throughout the race and when placed under pressure over the final 300 Metres proved difficult to ride out, resulting in him having to correct his mount on a number of occasions. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

8 11 LIVE WIRE (L142) 12 M Guyon Bumped on jumping. Approaching the 250 Metres was steadied when crowded between SPICY SPEEDY and SKY CAP (Apprentice E C W Wong) which hung in. Whilst the Stewards were satisfied that Apprentice Wong had made some effort to prevent his mount from shifting ground, he was reprimanded and advised that in similar circumstances he would be expected to make a greater effort than he did on this occasion and stop riding and straighten his mounts.
9 12 VIVA BOSS (L139) 8 K C Leung Kicked a rail in the Parade Ring, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race. Jumped awkwardly.

Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
2 4 GALLANT DESIGN (L161) 5 B Avdulla Made contact with a rail on the way to the Start, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race. Shifted in on jumping and was bumped. Near the 1050 Metres became unbalanced when it bumped SUPER RUBICK KID due to both runners shifting ground. Briefly held up approaching the 300 Metres. Sent for sampling post-race.
8 5 STORMY KNIGHT (L062) 14 H Bowman Jumped only fairly.
12 6 SUPER RUBICK KID (L259) 7 J Orman On jumping shifted out and made heavy contact with BETTER AND BETTER. Near the 1050 Metres became unbalanced when bumped by GALLANT DESIGN due to both runners shifting ground. J Orman reported that his mount, which was having its first race start, raced greenly throughout the event.

6 8 WATCH THIS ONE (K268) 3 K Teetan As the start was effected became fractious and as a consequence was slow to begin. K Teetan reported that the intention was to be slightly more forward but his mount settled slightly further back in the field when it was slow to begin. Between the 350 Metres and the 150 Metres was held up for clear running.
5 9 WINNING CHAMPION (K429) 12 H Bentley Jumped only fairly.

4 11 BETTER AND BETTER (K277) 8 L Ferraris Bumped heavily at the start. In the early stages raced keenly when being eased to obtain cover. Sent for sampling post-race.
11 12 SEA SAPPHIRE (H343) 4 M Guyon Jumped only fairly and then was bumped by GALLANT DESIGN which shifted in. M Guyon reported that the intention was to lead the event but when his mount jumped only fairly and was bumped by GALLANT DESIGN it did not show sufficient pace to lead. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
13 13 HAPPY BUDDIES (K344) 9 K C Leung Jumped awkwardly.
7 14 DASH (K250) 1 A Badel A Badel, who weighed in at 117 lbs, was fined the sum of $5,000 for returning to scale 2 lbs overweight.

General

Races 4 – 11 were each put back 5 minutes.

After the running of Race 3, the track classification was officially changed from "Good” to "Good to Firm”. This change in the opinion of the Stewards should be recorded as being retrospective. As a consequence of this, the official results will show Race 3 being run on a track rated "Good to Firm”.

Racing Laboratory tests of BLAZING BEAM, CONCORDE STAR, LUCKY GENERATIONS, FORTUNATE SON, INNO SUPER, LUCKY PLANET, NEVER SETTLE, BITS SUPERSTAR, CALIFORNIA BANNER, FORTUNE STAR, INCANTO STAR, SILVERY BREEZE, MAX QUE, DAN ATTACK, WINNING MONEY, SPEED DRAGON, HUGE WAVE, STORM RIDER, REGAL GEM, GUSTOSISIMO, SPORTS LEGEND, PERFECTDAY and MIGHTY COMMANDER (14.1.26) proved negative.
