He said passing the 50 Metres he commenced to shorten his reins to maintain control of the horse but as he did so he dropped his left rein which resulted in BINGO BABE shifting in and he having to stop riding in an attempt to regather his reins. He added that as this took some time to do so he was not able to fully ride BINGO BABE out to the finish of the race. M F Poon was advised he should ensure, wherever possible, that he maintains control of his reins. Sent for sampling post-race.

Near the 900 Metres shifted out when positioned close to the heels of GRACEFUL HEART. Approaching the 150 Metres K Teetan dropped his whip. K Teetan stated that his mount was disadvantaged by racing wide and without cover for the majority of the event. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm. Before being allowed to race again, COUNTRY PRIDE will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Apprentice Wong was advised in similar circumstances she would be expected to straighten her mounts sooner than what she did on this occasion. When questioned K Teetan stated that after receiving crowding at the start his mount settled further back than intended. He said near the 500 Metres after being contacted by TACTICAL COMMAND, CALIFORNIA BAY hung in and as a result he was required to correct his mount to prevent it from crowding TACTICAL COMMAND. He added that as a result CALIFORNIA BAY became unbalanced and lost ground. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
