R Kingscote stated that from a wide barrier he was instructed to go forward as connections were of the opinion there was not significant pace engaged in the race. He added that when placed under pressure in the Home Straight his mount failed to respond and gave ground. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

9 3 FORTUNE SUPERNOVA (K287) 2 C L Chau (-2) After travelling a short distance was crowded between NOBLE FANS and STORMY KNIGHT which shifted out. Over the final 150 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running and as a result could not be fully tested to the finish.
8 4 STORMY KNIGHT (L062) 1 B Avdulla Approaching the 50 Metres was hampered when taken in by ALWAYS FLUKE.
3 5 AUTUMN VIBES (K150) 9 Z Purton Jumped awkwardly. Was left racing wide and without cover from the 600 Metres.
5 6 ALWAYS FLUKE (H252) 4 C Y Ho Approaching the 100 Metres was eased and shifted to the inside of TEAM HAPPY to continue into clear running.

11 8 SOLAR RIVER (J308) 5 M L Yeung Leaving the 900 Metres commenced to race keenly when being steadied to allow DASH to cross. Approaching the 50 Metres was steadied when crowded between DASH and STORMY KNIGHT which was taken in by ALWAYS FLUKE (C Y Ho) which was directed to the inside of TEAM HAPPY. C Y Ho was reprimanded. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
10 9 DASH (K250) 7 K C Leung K C Leung stated that the intention was to hold a handy position with cover. He said when caught wide in the early stages he was obliged to continue forward to cross runners to his inside which resulted in DASH leading the event.
4 10 TELECOM POWER (J332) 6 H Bentley Sent for sampling post-race.
2 11 VON BAER (K198) 12 M F Poon From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Sent for sampling post-race.
1 12 TEAM HAPPY (J218) 10 K Teetan Shortly after the start shifted out and became unbalanced when it made contact with FLASH STAR. Raced wide and without cover until near the 600 Metres. Over the concluding stages K Teetan dropped his right rein. Sent for sampling post-race.

9 2 CALIFORNIA MOXIE (J131) 10 B Avdulla Shifted in at the start and was bumped. From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
8 3 STURDY RUBY (H207) 7 C Y Ho C Y Ho reported that when placed under pressure in the Home Straight his mount did not respond to his riding and was disappointing in its finishing effort. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
6 4 CASA ROCHESTER (J494) 5 C L Chau (-2) Bumped on jumping.
5 5 DECISION LINK (K416) 9 E C W Wong (-3) Jumped only fairly and was bumped by CALIFORNIA MOXIE which shifted in.
7 6 THE AZURE (J227) 3 A Atzeni Jumped only fairly and shortly after the start was steadied when crowded between PRECISION HOPE and MIGHTY STEED which shifted in slightly.
2 7 FIREFOOT (J183) 1 K Teetan Sent for sampling post-race.
10 8 FRANCIS MEYNELL (J394) 6 R Kingscote Jumped awkwardly. R Kingscote stated that his mount travelled satisfactorily outside the lead but when pressured from the 500 Metres failed to respond to his riding and gave ground in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
4 9 PRECISION HOPE (L047) 2 A Badel Shortly after the start made contact with THE AZURE and became unbalanced. Sent for sampling post-race.
3 10 CIRCUIT CENTURY (K308) 8 H T Mo (-2) When questioned regarding his riding and the reason his mount raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event with the early stages being run outside of standard time H T Mo stated that the instructions were to hold a position where comfortable and attempt to obtain cover. He said from his wide barrier he was caught wide in the early stages and unable to cross runners to his inside. He said whilst there was an opportunity to go forward he was not aware that the pace of the event was being run slowly and for this reason when his horse was in a comfortable rhythm he elected to remain racing without cover. He added that under pressure in the Home Straight CIRCUIT CENTURY responded well to his riding. Whilst the Stewards noted the explanation provided he was advised, wherever possible, he should attempt to obtain a position closer to the rail to avoid covering additional ground.

8 2 LEAN MASTER (H134) 12 H Y Yuen (-10) Apprentice H Y Yuen stated that she was obliged to make use of the horse in the early stages to cross to the lead from the outside barrier. She said in the Home Straight LEAN MASTER was unable to finish the race off. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A Atzeni stated that his mount travelled reasonably well when settling back in the field as expected. He said when asked for an effort on the Home Turn WINNING DIAMOND responded only fairly to his riding and was disappointing in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

5 2 SOLID WIN (J225) 6 C L Chau (-2) Shortly after the start was steadied when crowded between KEEFY and DO YOUR PART which was taken out by CHINA WIN.
3 3 CHINA WIN (K395) 4 M L Yeung Approaching the 150 Metres was hampered when bumped by FORTUNATE SON (C Y Ho) which shifted in before being corrected. C Y Ho was advised to exercise more care.
6 4 DO YOUR PART (J444) 5 B Avdulla For some distance after the start raced tight between SOLID WIN and CHINA WIN which shifted out slightly. Sent for sampling post-race.
4 5 VIOLET STAR (L149) 1 K Teetan After the race was noted to have sustained a laceration to the left front cannon.
11 6 ANOTHER ZONDA (K176) 2 P N Wong (-7) Apprentice P N Wong stated that the instructions were to attempt to lead. She said when her mount failed to show sufficient pace in the early stages to do so she was obliged to take a position with cover. She added that in the Home Straight ANOTHER ZONDA failed to respond to her riding and raced in a disappointing manner. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. The performance of ANOTHER ZONDA, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, ANOTHER ZONDA will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
8 7 KEEFY (G306) 7 M F Poon Shortly after the start became unbalanced when bumped by SOLID WIN.
12 8 SAMARKAND (H070) 8 Z Purton Bumped at the start. Z Purton stated that his mount came under pressure near the 600 Metres before giving ground in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of SAMARKAND, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, SAMARKAND will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
2 9 WINDLORD (L184) 12 M Chadwick Between the 300 Metres and the 100 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running. Sent for sampling post-race.

10 11 DREAMING TOGETHER (L215) 9 A Atzeni Shifted in at the start and made contact with SAMARKAND. Shortly after the start was then steadied when crowded by DEFINITIVE which shifted in after being bumped by GENERAL REDWOOD. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
9 12 GENERAL REDWOOD (L102) 11 Y L Chung (-2) Shifted in at the start and was bumped. Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

PODIUM – When questioned regarding his riding on the Home Turn and the reason he elected to shift to the inside of JOLLY COMPANION to attempt to secure clear running A Atzeni stated that he was instructed to allow PODIUM to settle where comfortable and to ride the horse between runners to give it a chance to finish the race off. He said whilst there was an opportunity to shift to the outside of JOLLY COMPANION he was of the opinion that KANSAS, which was racing in advance of him, was travelling reasonably well and for this reason he elected to follow that runner through to comply with his instructions. He added that when KANSAS did not improve as he had anticipated this resulted in PODIUM being held up for clear running between the 400 Metres and the 200 Metres. Trainer D Eustace confirmed the instructions issued and stated that he issued those instructions on the basis that PODIUM races best when held up for a final run, particularly as the horse has performed best when racing at Happy Valley.

The following jockey was found to be in breach of Rule 100(3)(ii)(a) for using the whip on consecutive occasions:-

Race 9 (9)
Apprentice P N Wong (EXCELLENCE VALUE) was reprimanded in relation to using her whip on a horse which was clearly out of contention.
