Crowded after travelling a short distance. When questioned Y L Chung stated that as the horse does not always begin well it can often settle further back in the field than instructed. He said today when his mount jumped well he was able to hold a more forward position than it had at its previous race starts. He added that near the 1200 Metres when JOLLY JUMPER was steadied in front he became awkwardly placed close to that runner which resulted in IRON LEGION becoming unbalanced and blundering at that point. 12 7 SHINE BRIGHT (H385) 3 J Orman J Orman stated that the intention was to obtain cover. He said when SHINE BRIGHT jumped well he was able to hold the lead without being pressured to do so, but, in his opinion, SHINE BRIGHT did not run out the 1600 Metres of today’s race.

8 9 DRAGON SUNRISE (J269) 6 D Probert Bumped on jumping. Over the final 200 Metres raced tight between IRON LEGION and PANDA LEGEND, both of which shifted ground.
11 10 GANGNAM STAR (H326) 5 K Teetan Noted to have blood in the mouth on arrival at the Start, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. When questioned K Teetan stated that his mount hung out in the middle stages. He said near the 450 Metres he endeavoured to force a run between SILVER KING and ISLAND GOLDEN but when SILVER KING commenced to give ground at that point he was checked when disappointed for this run. He added that as a result he remained very awkwardly placed behind SILVER KING between the 450 Metres and the 350 Metres at which point he struck the heels of SILVER KING and blundered badly. K Teetan was reprimanded and advised in similar circumstances he would be expected to ensure that there is sufficient racing room to improve into runs. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

14 12 SILVER KING (H420) 12 H T Mo (-2) Raced wide and without cover from the 800 Metres. H T Mo reported that he was issued with no specific instruction other than to have the horse race where comfortable, particularly as it is a known "roarer”. He said when SILVER KING jumped well today he was able to hold a more forward position than at its previous race starts. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported. The performance of SILVER KING, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, SILVER KING will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
2 13 HARRY'S HERO (H332) 2 A Badel Between the 450 Metres and the 350 Metres was held up for clear running. Sent for sampling post-race.
6 14 STRONGEST BOY (H027) 7 H Bentley Bumped on jumping. After travelling a short distance SMILING EMPEROR shifted in and away from SILVER KING (H T Mo) after SILVER KING shifted in before being corrected by Jockey Mo. As a consequence IRON LEGION, DRACO and STRONGEST BOY were all steadied when crowded to the inside of SMILING EMPEROR. H T Mo was reprimanded and advised in similar circumstances he would be expected to correct his mount sooner than what he did on this occasion.

Z Purton stated that his mount failed to respond to his riding when under pressure in the Home Straight but could offer no explanation for its disappointing performance other than he indicated that the horse, in his opinion, trialed only fairly when he rode it at its most recent barrier trial on 16 December 2025. Trainer A S Cruz advised that he would now look to drop the horse back in distance to race over 1000 Metres for its next race start. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
1 5 JOY CAPITAL (K573) 9 J Orman When questioned regarding the improved performance Trainer W Y So stated that the horse was advantaged by having experience at its first race start and further was assisted by receiving a comfortable run in the lead, particularly in the middle stages of the event. 11 6 POWER PATCH (L100) 11 K C Leung Jumped only fairly and then blundered shortly after the start. Raced keenly in the early stages and for some distance approaching the 800 Metres was steadied away from CIRCUIT DUFFY. Near the 600 Metres hung out and away from BEAUTY GEMINI and was steadied away from WINNING CHAMPION. Near the 300 Metres momentarily raced tight between MEOWTH and BEAUTY GEMINI which shifted out slightly.
10 7 STORMY KNIGHT (L062) 14 H Bowman From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Over the final 200 Metres was held up for clear running and as a result could not be ridden out to the finish of the race.
6 8 PRESTIGE HALL (K040) 1 B Avdulla Jumped only fairly. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Between the 400 Metres and the 300 Metres was held up for clear running. After the 300 Metres improved into a narrow run between KING OBERON and SAME TO YOU and as a result made contact with SAME TO YOU near the 200 Metres. PRESTIGE HALL then raced in restricted room between KING OBERON and SAME TO YOU until the finish of the event. Sent for sampling post-race.
8 9 WATCH THIS ONE (K268) 13 K Teetan Over the final 150 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running. Trainer P C Ng advised that from a wide barrier he had instructed K Teetan to ride the horse in a conservative manner in the early stages to offset the wide barrier.
12 10 BRAVE WIN (K421) 3 C Y Ho Over the final 250 Metres did not obtain clear running and as a consequence was not ridden out to the finish of the event.

C L Chau advised that from a wide barrier he was instructed to ride the horse in a midfield position as it had not been finishing its races off at its most recent starts when ridden forward. H Bowman was advised to exercise more care. A short distance later RICH HORSE was again steadied when crowded between CIRCUIT VICTORY and LEGEND STAR which shifted to the outside of TURF PHOENIX when that runner was steadied in front.

A Atzeni stated that after having to make some use of his mount in the early stages to race outside the lead it did not respond to his riding in the Home Straight and was disappointing. 9 2 SEA CHARIOT (K358) 1 K C Leung Held up for clear running between the 450 Metres and the 250 Metres. When being shifted to the outside of PROUD BOX approaching the 200 Metres was then steadied when crowded between PROUD BOX and SUNDAY’S SERENADE which was shifting to the inside of BETTER AND BETTER. In this incident SEA CHARIOT hung in and proved reluctant to proceed between PROUD BOX and SUNDAY’S SERENADE and near the 150 Metres was then steadied when SUNDAY’S SERENADE was taken in slightly by BETTER AND BETTER which shifted in when giving ground. As a result SEA CHARIOT did not obtain clear running over the final 200 Metres.

He said when caught wide in the early stages he was obliged to make some use of his mount to go forward to avoid covering additional ground. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
7 7 CIRCUIT GOGO (L002) 9 M F Poon Shifted out at the start and made contact with SUNDAY’S SERENADE. Raced keenly in the middle stages and near the 800 Metres was steadied away from GOLDEN DREAM. Between the 200 Metres and the 100 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running.
5 8 GOLDEN DREAM (K329) 7 L Ferraris Jumped only fairly and then was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Held up for clear running approaching the 300 Metres. When being shifted to the outside of WIN SPEED leaving the 300 Metres GOLDEN DREAM (L Ferraris) shifted out and made contact with GOLDEN FORTUNE, resulting in that runner becoming unbalanced when taken out onto WINNING DIAMOND. As a consequence WINNING DIAMOND and RAGING RAPIDS made contact, resulting in both runners becoming unbalanced. L Ferraris was advised to exercise more care.
6 9 PROUD BOX (K487) 2 H Bowman Shifted out at the start and was bumped.
12 10 BETTER AND BETTER (K277) 4 C Y Ho Shortly after the start became unbalanced when bumped by GOLDEN FORTUNE. C Y Ho reported that after racing outside the lead, when placed under pressure in the Home Straight, once his mount improved to the front it hung out and did not respond to his riding before giving ground in the Home Straight. Trainer F C Lor stated that, in his opinion, BETTER AND BETTER races best when able to obtain cover. He added that with the early and middle stages being run inside of standard time he felt this was one of the reasons why the horse was not able to finish the race off in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of BETTER AND BETTER was considered disappointing as compared to its previous race starts. Before being allowed to race again, BETTER AND BETTER will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. As a result GLORIASTAR and ETALON OR made contact and became unbalanced. After considering the evidence Jockey Purton was reprimanded when the Stewards found that whilst he had shifted to the outside of THE LION KING to improve where there was doubtful room they were satisfied that he had made an effort to straighten his mount when it shifted out and away from THE LION KING. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

9 3 PACKING HERMOD (J277) 3 M Guyon Noted to have blood in the mouth on arrival at the Start, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race. Near the 450 Metres was steadied when awkwardly placed between STORM RIDER and CAPITAL DELIGHT which shifted out slightly. M Guyon reported that entering the Home Straight he was following the winner STORM RIDER but when that runner quickened leaving the 400 Metres his mount responded only fairly to his riding. When questioned M Guyon stated that in the middle stages his mount commenced to race keenly and leaving the 700 Metres improved to the inside of STORM RIDER and as a result he was obliged to check his mount to avoid that runner. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, PACKING HERMOD will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Sent for sampling post-race.

He said in the early stages when positioned wide to the outside of SKY TRUST and GUSTOSISIMO he had to make some use of his mount near the 1000 Metres to go forward and cross those runners to avoid covering additional ground and to comply with his instructions. Trainer C Fownes confirmed the instructions issued. Sent for sampling post-race.

2 2 CROSSBORDERPEGASUS (K008) 12 H Bowman When questioned H Bowman stated that throughout the early and middle stages of the event his mount was obliged to race wide and without cover, however, raced tractably during that section of the race. He said in the Home Straight when positioned to the outside of HAPPY INDEX his mount commenced to lay in when he urged it forward, however, he was able to maintain a reasonably straight course. He said once CROSSBORDERPEGASUS improved past HAPPY INDEX it hung in which required him to stop riding and place significant pressure to his left rein to prevent it from shifting in and causing interference which resulted in CROSSBORDERPEGASUS becoming unbalanced and losing momentum at that point. He added that after he was able to pull his whip through to his right hand near the 100 Metres CROSSBORDERPEGASUS finished the race off reasonably well although it did lay in. When questioned regarding the carriage of his whip in the left hand H Bowman stated that as it is his preference to carry the whip in his left hand he decided that he would do so during the running of this race. He said when the horse initially hung in he did not believe it was necessary to pull the whip through as his focus was on maintaining a straight course and, in his opinion, the fact that he carried his whip in his left hand in the early stages of the race had no effect on his ability to ride the horse out as he was able to pull it through to his right hand near the 100 Metres in his usual manner. Trainer J Size stated that the horse had competed in 4 barrier trials leading up to today’s first up performance where he and the Stewards had been satisfied with the horse’s racing manners. After considering the matter the Stewards advised Mr Size that CROSSBORDERPEGASUS must barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards from a wide barrier where it would be required to be ridden out in the Home Straight under raceday pressure to the outside of other horses before being allowed to race again. 11 3 MATTERS MOST (K154) 13 E C W Wong (-5) Apprentice E C W Wong reported that his mount was disadvantaged by being pressured in the lead by RISING FORCE and as a result did not finish the race off in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
14 4 SAVVY BRILLIANT (J437) 3 Z Purton Jumped awkwardly. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to have bled from both nostrils. Before being allowed to race again, SAVVY BRILLIANT will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

He added that throughout the event CLASS continued to lay in and proved difficult to ride out in the Home Straight.

The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, CHARMING LEGEND will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

He added that when the pace of the event was run outside of standard time throughout the middle stages KEEN MOLLY could not finish the race off strongly in the Home Straight.

When questioned regarding his riding in the Home Straight and as to the reason he shifted out and away from a trailing position behind WITH A SMILE, H Bentley stated that soon after entering the Home Straight he was of the opinion that WITH A SMILE was under pressure and not improving into the event. He said as a result he elected to shift out with a view to improving between GUMMY GUMMY and CHARMING LEGEND. He said when he attempted to improve between those two runners leaving the 300 Metres GUMMY GUMMY shifted out slightly and as a result he was unable to continue to proceed into that run which resulted in EIGHTY LIGHT YEARS being held up for clear running over the final 300 Metres. After considering his explanation the Stewards found the tactics adopted by Jockey Bentley were reasonable in the circumstances. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

11 12 TOURBILLON GOLFER (K320) 5 M F Poon M F Poon stated that after holding a position outside the lead his mount gave ground under pressure in the Home Straight but he could offer no excuse for its disappointing performance. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported.
