5 2 VOYAGE BUBBLE (E436) 6 Z Purton Was examined by the Veterinary Officer after arriving at the Start at the request of Jockey Z Purton and passed suitable to race. When questioned Z Purton stated that the horse travelled satisfactorily during the race and he was comfortable with the early and middle stages being run inside of standard time as the horse had performed well when it won over 2400 Metres previously on a strong pace. He added VOYAGE BUBBLE came under pressure prior to entering the Home Straight and did not respond to his riding and was disappointing. He said after the event the horse appeared to pull up satisfactorily. Assistant Trainer H F Yiu representing Trainer P F Yiu stated that the horse had pleased the stable coming into today’s race and he could offer no explanation for its performance. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
6 3 BEAUTY JOY (E058) 2 B Avdulla When questioned B Avdulla stated that from barrier 2 and when the connections were of the opinion there was not strong pace in the event he was given the option to lead if BEAUTY JOY jumped well. He said as a result when his mount commenced well he elected to allow the horse to stride forward and lead the event. He added that BEAUTY JOY raced keenly throughout the early and middle stages and as a result ran inside of standard time despite his efforts to set a more sustainable pace. He said due to the manner the horse raced throughout the early and middle stages it did not respond to his riding in the Home Straight. Trainer A S Cruz confirmed that he had given B Avdulla the option to go forward. He said he issued those instructions as BEAUTY JOY has been finishing its races off only fairly due to racing keenly in the early stages when settling back in the field.
4 4 MY WISH (J256) 5 H Bowman When questioned H Bowman stated that he was instructed to ride the horse in a conservative manner in the early stages to ensure that it ran out a strong 2000 Metres. He added whilst he had expected to settle back in the field he had not anticipated the race being run inside of standard time in the early and middle stages. He said near the 500 Metres he commenced to shift to the outside of WINNING WING, however, when that runner shifted out at the same point he then elected to save ground and improve to the inside of WINNING WING near the 450 Metres whereby MY WISH responded well to his riding. He said after making good ground between the 400 Metres and the 150 Metres the horse’s run ended which he attributed to the early and middle stages of the race being run inside of standard time. Trainer M Newnham confirmed the instructions and stated he issued those instructions to allow the horse to run out a strong 2000 Metres.

He said when PAKISTAN LEGACY showed the intent to lead the event he allowed that runner to cross him and obtain a position with cover behind that horse. Assistant Trainer H F Yiu representing Trainer P F Yiu confirmed the instructions and stated that at its last start on 25 January 2026 the horse was disadvantaged by taking on for the lead and as a result he had given Jockey Kingscote the option to ride it with cover. Sent for sampling post-race.

4 2 NUMBERS (L080) 11 K C Leung When questioned K C Leung stated that his instructions were to lead. He said after improving to the outside of AKASHVANI near the 1000 Metres, when that runner did not show the intent to hold the lead, he elected to allow NUMBERS to stride forward to cross AKASHVANI and lead as instructed. When questioned regarding his riding from the 800 Metres and if there was an opportunity to set a slower pace K C Leung stated that as NUMBERS is a big striding horse and one-paced he was satisfied that the horse was racing in a comfortable rhythm and as a result he elected to allow it to continue to stride forward without restraining his mount as he felt it would provide it with the best opportunity to obtain the best possible placing in the race.

2. Adjourned Inquiry – 25 February 2026 Happy Valley Racemeeting – Race 3 (468)

The Stewards today concluded an inquiry opened into Jockey E C W Wong’s riding of SKY HEART. Further evidence today was taken from Jockey Wong and Trainer C Fownes. The Stewards also considered a betting and analytical report provided by the Racing Integrity and Betting Analysis Department. That report did not identify any integrity concern in relation to the betting on the event. In addition, the Stewards considered a report from the Department of Veterinary Regulation, Welfare and Biosecurity Policy which confirmed SKY HEART had been found to be lame in the right front leg the day after racing. To verify the lameness, a Sleip analysis report was provided to the Stewards. After considering the evidence the Stewards advised Jockey Wong that, in their opinion, he had made two errors of judgement in the early stages. Firstly, not riding his mount with more intent in the early stages to attempt to cross SOLEIL FIGHTER as he had been instructed to do. Secondly, when positioned to the outside of SOLEIL FIGHTER in the early stages he elected to restrain his mount to race behind SOLEIL FIGHTER which resulted in SWORD POINT and AWESOME FLUKE being able to cross SKY HEART and SKY HEART then racing further back in the field. Having found that Jockey Wong had made those errors of judgement, the Stewards did not elect to issue a charge against Jockey Wong under Rule 99 (2) on the basis that they could not be satisfied, having regard to the horse being found to be lame after the race, that his actions had resulted in it not winning or obtaining the best possible place in the field. However, Jockey Wong was advised that his riding in the early stages lacked the necessary judgement of a jockey riding in this jurisdiction and he would be expected to make a greater effort in similar circumstance to comply with instructions he has been issued.
