B Avdulla was advised to exercise more care. A Atzeni stated that his mount did not appreciate being pressured in the lead in the early stages by ALSONSO and as a consequence did not finish the race off in the Home Straight. 14 3 BUCEPHALAS (K096) 14 H Y Yuen (-10) When questioned Apprentice H Y Yuen stated that when she commenced to ride her mount along shortly after the start the horse attempted to buck and became unbalanced. M F Poon stated that after being checked at the start and settling back in the field his mount found it difficult to make up ground in the Home Straight due to the early and middle stages of the event being run outside of standard time. 9 9 AMAZING DUCK (H392) 9 H Y Yuen (-10) Bumped on jumping. When questioned regarding her riding and the reason her mount was obliged to race wide and without cover for the majority of the event Apprentice H Y Yuen stated that her instructions were to go forward and sit outside the expected leader MEGA MASTERMIND. She said after jumping well and being positioned to the outside of MEGA MASTERMIND she observed HONORARY improve to her outside. She said as her mount was stepping up to the 1600 Metres today she elected to allow HONORARY to cross her mount near the 1100 Metres. She added that as HONORARY did so the pace of the event, in her opinion, eased which resulted in AMAZING DUCK racing keenly and having to be shifted to the outside of HONORARY near the 900 Metres to avoid that runner. She said as a consequence AMAZING DUCK raced wide and without cover thereafter. When questioned if there was an opportunity to hold her position to the outside of the lead to prevent HONORARY from shifting in Apprentice Yuen agreed with the Stewards that in retrospect she should have made more effort to do so having regard to the early and middle stages of the event being run outside of standard time. When questioned regarding the reason MATSU VICTOR was able to improve to her inside near the 600 Metres Apprentice Yuen stated that as her focus was on keeping her mount balanced she did not elect to contest the position to the outside of HONORARY when MATSU VICTOR commenced to improve. She said as a result AMAZING DUCK was then taken wider from the 600 Metres when MATSU VICTOR was able to shift out. Trainer K H Ting confirmed the instructions were to go forward and race outside the expected leader MEGA MASTERMIND. He stated that, in his opinion, Apprentice Yuen would have been better suited by making a greater effort to prevent HONORARY from crossing AMAZING DUCK in the early stages having regard to the pace of the event being run outside of standard time. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The Stewards advised Apprentice Yuen that whilst they acknowledged her relative inexperience riding in Hong Kong she would be expected to ride her mounts in a more competitive manner in similar circumstances, particularly as she gains experience riding in this jurisdiction.
8 10 MULTISUPERSTAR (L163) 3 A Atzeni Noted to have blood in the mouth on arrival at the Start, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race. With the early and middle stages of the event being run outside of standard time raced keenly. A Atzeni stated that, in his opinion, the horse did not run out the 1600 Metres of today’s race. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

After taking evidence from Trainer D A Hayes, Apprentice H Y Yuen and Starter Mr A Speechley the Stewards established that prior to the start being effected Apprentice Yuen was unseated from the saddle when ROMANTIC SON became fractious in the starting gates which resulted in Apprentice Yuen being dislodged from the horse as the start was effected. As the Stewards were satisfied that Apprentice Yuen was not positioned at the saddle as the start was effected they determined the horse had been denied a fair start and as such was declared a non-runner. 7 1 SOUTH STAR (K153) 10 C L Chau (-2) Held up making the Home Turn. Noted to have bled from both nostrils after the race. As this was the second occasion that SOUTH STAR had bled, the horse is ineligible to run in any race conducted by the Club in the future.
6 2 SUPER EXPRESS (K245) 12 B Avdulla When questioned B Avdulla stated that his instructions were to go forward but attempt to find cover if possible. He said after positioning to the outside of GOLD PATCH near the 900 Metres SUPER EXPRESS, which was racing in blinkers for the first time, commenced to race keenly which resulted in the horse being positioned approximately half a length in front of GOLD PATCH. He said although he was aware he was running inside of standard time he was unable to set a more sustainable pace due to the racing manners of the horse. He added in the Home Straight when under pressure SUPER EXPRESS hung in and proved difficult to ride out. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Sent for sampling post-race.
3 3 KA YING ATTACK (J391) 4 M F Poon Noted to have blood at the left nostril after the race.
