Racing Incident Report
Just as the gates opened, KENWOOD MELODY reared. On jumping, TAJASUR shifted in and made contact with the hindquarters of SHAXI FORTUNE. K S Yu (CRYSTAL CHARM) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that approaching the 800 Metres he allowed his mount to shift in when not clear. As a result of this, BILLION WIN was crowded onto TOY WARRIOR. This caused TOY WARRIOR to be severely checked and BILLION WIN to be checked. K S Yu was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday, 21 September 2000 on which day he may resume race riding. The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the meeting at Happy Valley on Wednesday, 6 September 2000. W M Lai (PLENTY-PLENTY) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that at about the 800 Metres he shifted in when not clear of TAJASUR. As a consequence of this, TAJASUR lost the running to which it was rightfully entitled and was checked. W M Lai was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday, 21 September 2000 on which day he may resume race riding. The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the meeting at Happy Valley next Wednesday, 6 September 2000. For a short distance approaching the 600 Metres, CRYSTAL CHARM was inclined to hang out. In the run to the winning post, SHAXI FORTUNE was inclined to shift in. Because of this, Apprentice S K Sit momentarily stopped riding and straightened. R Fradd (TAJASUR) said following the incident near the 800 Metres, the horse in his opinion was reluctant to stretch out and he formed the view that its action was not right. In the early part of the Straight, he commenced to ease TAJASUR down as it was apparent to him that the horse was not stretching out as it should. TAJASUR was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing. Following the race, TAJASUR was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said the horse was lame in its off hind leg. Before TAJASUR can race again, it will have to pass an official veterinary examination.
