Racing Incident Report

About the 600 Metres, MOMENTUM accidentally clipped the heels of MADE TO FIGURE and almost fell. Some inconvenience was caused to ELECTRONIC UNICORN. Apprentice Y T Cheng (MAN OF HONOUR) explained he had been directed by the Trainer to ride the horse somewhere on the speed but today if possible not to lead. He said when the gates opened MAN OF HONOUR threw its head about as it had done when he last rode the horse. He said today however the difference was that when RED PEPPER, which had drawn the barrier inside him, left the gates, it shifted out abruptly and because of this he lost his position and was not able to go forward as instructed. He said because of what happened early on he felt he had little alternative but to shift across into a position on the rail but a little further back than intended. When asked about the disappointing performance of ELECTRONIC UNICORN, H K Yim said before the race the Trainer had pointed out to him there did not look to be a lot of pace in the race and if possible he was to ride ELECTRONIC UNICORN somewhere about the 6th or 7th place. He said ELECTRONIC UNICORN left the gates well, because of the manner in which the race was being run he was unable to take up a position as instructed and settled down towards the rear. He said ELECTRONIC UNICORN travelled satisfactorily in the rearward position but when asked to improve after the 500 Metres ELECTRONIC UNICORN did not respond and was generally very disappointing. H K Yim did point out at about the 400 Metres he dropped his whip. He was unable to put forward any real explanation for the run. Before ELECTRONIC UNICORN races again, it will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. ELECTRONIC UNICORN was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
