Racing Incident Report

OPERATION HUMOUR was slow to begin. LUCKY STALLION was a little slow to begin and then was hard ridden to go forward. At the 800 Metres, BEETHOVEN shifted out away from the heels of SUPER SPRINT. This caused inconvenience to WINTROW which then commenced to hang out. Near the 300 Metres, SUPER SPRINT was steadied and shifted in when disappointed for running between FIVE GRAINS and STRONG SUN, both of which were shifting ground. Over the concluding stages, BEETHOVEN got its head on the side and hung in. For the major part of the race, WINTROW raced wide and without cover. STRONG SUN was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, STRONG SUN was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said on dismounting J Quinn reported the horse felt lame in front on pulling up. However, his examination showed no significant findings. W C Marwing (OLYMPIC GOLD) said the horse got back towards the rear as was anticipated in the 1400 Metres of today's race. He said after straightening he commenced to ride his mount along, however, it did not respond to his riding and only quickened slightly. He said after the 200 Metres even when being ridden with the whip, although it may have appeared OLYMPIC GOLD was making strong ground, in actual fact the horse was only closing fairly. BEETHOVEN and LUCKY STALLION were sent for sampling.
