Racing Incident Report

TATTLETALE, which was standing badly, was slow to begin, got its head up and lost a significant amount of ground. CARE FREE PRINCE was slow to begin. DANEPRINT began awkwardly and lost ground. Shortly after the start, ASIA RISING and EUPHORIC KID were crowded for room between MR PRESIDENT which shifted out and STRONG GALLOP which was carried in by A PLUS FIT. Near the 1200 Metres, BEST EVER blundered and almost fell when crowded for room inside TEA FOR CHAMP which at this time was carried in by DANEPRINT (E Saint-Martin) which had been ridden along to make up ground and at this time shifted in when being steadied away from the heels of SUPER SPRINT which after crossing to race outside the leader steadied slightly. As the Stewards were satisfied the steadying of SUPER SPRINT had contributed to this incident, no direct action was taken, however, E Saint-Martin was told he must at all times do his utmost to prevent causing interference to other runners. CARE FREE PRINCE and EUPHORIC KID were hampered in consequence. Near the 800 Metres, MR PRESIDENT was steadied to avoid the heels of A PLUS FIT which crossed when barely clear. For some distance approaching and passing the 600 Metres, CARE FREE PRINCE was awkwardly placed between TEA FOR CHAMP and KNIGHT TEMPLAR. On straightening, STRONG GALLOP was bumped and carried wider by EUPHORIC KID which at this time shifted to the outside of ASIA RISING. In the early part of the Straight, DANEPRINT hung out. Over the concluding stages, SUPER SPRINT hung in. When questioned regarding the improved performance of A PLUS FIT, Mr C S Shum, the trainer of the horse, said tonight the horse was able to obtain a soft lead which clearly was to its advantage. He said at its most recent start A PLUS START whilst leading went much faster and as a result did not close the race off. C Williams (STRONG GALLOP) reported he was concerned with the horse's action in the Straight and therefore did not ride the horse out as he normally would. STRONG GALLOP was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, STRONG GALLOP was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a significant amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, STRONG GALLOP will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A PLUS FIT and EASY GAME were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 17 March 2005)
STRONG GALLOP, which performed poorly, was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time an endoscopic examination showed a significant amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. STRONG GALLOP was again examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer A T Millard this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to have a sprain of the right front fetlock joint. As previously advised, STRONG GALLOP will be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.
