Racing Incident Report

MONEY STRONG began awkwardly and lost ground. HIMALAYA began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped MEATH. FLYING BISHOP began awkwardly and bumped the outside gate of its stall. From wide barriers, WYNDAM EASY and BEST LUCK were immediately steadied and shifted across behind runners to a position closer to the rail but at the rear. In the early stages, AMAZING VICTORY proved difficult to settle when awkwardly placed close to the heels of WINNING DRAGON. EXPECTATIONS travelled wide and without cover throughout and on straightening was carried wider by HIMALAYA which shifted to the outside of WINTROW. On straightening, MEATH was crowded for room between FLYING BISHOP which shifted out slightly and WYNDAM EASY which got its head on the side and hung in. Over the concluding stages, HIMALAYA hung in and proved difficult to ride. When questioned regarding the poor performance of GOODY, G Mossé said he had been instructed to ride the horse in a rearward position. He said because of the pace of the race in the early stages GOODY would not relax for him and over-raced. He said consequently he travelled in a mid-field position. He said because of the manner in which it raced in the early and middle stages GOODY after showing some response in the early part of the Straight failed to finish the race off. GOODY was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. AMAZING VICTORY was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of GOODY and AMAZING VICTORY after the race did not show any significant findings. WINNING DRAGON and HIMALAYA were sent for sampling. After the race, it was noted MEATH had sustained a laceration to the left hind cannon.
