Racing Incident Report

On jumping, SHERIFF BAMBOO and GENERAL SPEEDEE bumped. Shortly after this, SHERIFF BAMBOO was steadied when crowded for room inside GENERAL SPEEDEE which shifted further. At the 1000 Metres, FINANCIAL KID was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of BRAVE COMMANDER which shifted out slightly. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, SHERIFF BAMBOO and CARE FREE PRINCE lost ground when awkwardly placed outside LUCKY GUYS and close to the heels of FINANCIAL KID. HAPPY GO LAGO raced wide and without cover from after the 800 Metres. Near the 700 Metres, LUCKY GUYS, which was proving difficult to settle, shifted out away from the heels of GENERAL SPEEDEE. This caused some inconvenience to SHERIFF BAMBOO and CARE FREE PRINCE which were racing to the outside. Also at this time, FINANCIAL KID, which was racing forward and to the outside of CARE FREE PRINCE, was shifted out. At the 600 Metres, LUCKY GUYS became unbalanced and lost ground after getting its head on the side, shifting in and making contact with the hindquarters of GENERAL SPEEDEE which itself shifted out slightly at this time. When questioned, D Whyte (FINANCIAL KID) said approaching the Home Turn he followed BUDDIES POWER and he considered shifting to the outside of that horse to make his run. He said just prior to straightening BUDDIES POWER was carried wider by BRAVE COMMANDER which shifted out into the clear. He said because of this running presented itself to the inside of BUDDIES POWER. He said as he was about to improve into this position GENERAL SPEEDEE improved on his inside and shifted out. He said FINANCIAL KID was not travelling well enough to go forward to hold its position. He said after this whilst FINANCIAL KID kept on, it did not quicken and near the 50 Metres he steadied and shifted out away from the heels of HAPPY GO LAGO which at this time shifted in. After the race, FINANCIAL KID was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, FINANCIAL KID will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. LUCKY GUYS, CRUSADER OF GOLD and BRAVE COMMANDER were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported LUCKY GUYS had bled from both nostrils.
