Racing Incident Report
Before leaving the holding stables, HAPPY HEROES had its left hind plate reset. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. NEW COMMAND and CARE FREE PRINCE were slow to begin. In the early stages, FIGHT BACK travelled wide and without cover. For some distance after the 600 Metres, WATCHMAN was awkwardly placed inside the hindquarters of WINWIN COMBO. Shortly after straightening, NEW COMMAND was steadied away from the heels of DANRIVA (S K Sit) which at this time was shifting to the outside of HAPPY HEROES to obtain clear running. S K Sit was reprimanded and told to exercise greater care. Over the concluding stages, CARE FREE PRINCE hung in. For the major part of the race, LA MERVEILLE travelled wide and without cover. CARE FREE PRINCE and NEW COMMAND were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of CARE FREE PRINCE and NEW COMMAND after the race did not show any significant findings. DESERT STRIKE and DANEHILL WARRIOR were sent for sampling.
