Racing Incident Report

UNITED EFFORTS was withdrawn on raceday morning by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (blood abnormality). Before being allowed to race again, UNITED EFFORTS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Shortly after the start, OPERATION SECRET and WHATABOB bumped when crowded for room outside FAT CHOY FOREVER. As a consequence, both horses lost ground. For the major part of the race, WHATABOB travelled wide and without cover. When questioned regarding the poor performance of FAT CHOY FOREVER, Apprentice C W Wong said in his opinion the horse was not suited being pressured in the lead tonight. He said when FAT CHOY FOREVER was successful at its most recent start, the horse had been left alone in front and was able to run the race to suit itself at a tempo which was slower than that of tonight’s race. Apprentice K L Chui (KIMBO KID) was unable to offer any explanation for the poor performance of the horse. He said at no stage of the race did KIMBO KID travel as it had done in its recent starts on the All Weather surface, then in the Straight did not respond to his riding. W M Lai (ROYAL PERICLES) said he had been instructed to ride his mount in midfield. He said ROYAL PERICLES in the past had been slow to begin and the horse was again slow to begin tonight and as a consequence got further back than intended. He said ROYAL PERICLES which was racing over 1650 Metres for the first time tonight relaxed well in the run. He said making the Home Turn he was following TOP HONOR, however, ROYAL PERICLES was unable to follow that horse through and was disappointing in the manner in which it finished the race off. He said in his opinion ROYAL PERICLES did not handle the increase in distance at its first time of asking. FAT CHOY FOREVER was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. KIMBO KID, ROYAL PERICLES and FIRST AMONG EQUALS were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of FAT CHOY FOREVER, KIMBO KID, ROYAL PERICLES and FIRST AMONG EQUALS after the race did not show any significant findings. TOP HONOR and LIBERAL'S KNIGHT were sent for sampling.
