Racing Incident Report

On arrival at the Start, HAWTHORNE had its bit adjusted. HAWTHORNE was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. PERFECT CHEERS was slow to begin. SEA THE PEARLS lost ground shortly after the start when crowded for room between SOLAR UP and MONEYMAKER which shifted in. Also shortly after the start, HAWTHORNE, which began awkwardly, was steadied when crowded for room between HINYUEN PALADIN and TOUCH GO which shifted out after being bumped by OSCAR WONDER. From the outside barrier, STORM UNICORN was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. When being crossed by TOUCH GO after the 700 Metres, SOLAR UP proved difficult to settle and got its head up on a number of occasions. Then after the 600 Metres, SOLAR UP was checked away from the heels of TOUCH GO which itself was momentarily awkwardly placed inside the heels of HINYUEN PALADIN. In this incident, SOLAR UP shifted out and made contact with OSCAR WONDER which became unbalanced when taken out towards the heels of HAWTHORNE. MONEYMAKER, which was following SOLAR UP, was steadied in consequence. Making the Home Turn, OCEAN WIDE (M Chadwick) was checked when attempting to obtain a doubtful run to the inside of EVER BEAUTY which was racing tight inside TOUCH GO. When OCEAN WIDE was checked, SEA THE PEARLS was initially taken out and then shifted out further, resulting in SOLAR UP being severely checked when taken across the heels of HINYUEN PALADIN which was commencing to give ground. When SOLAR UP was severely checked, it shifted out and made heavy contact with the hindquarters of OSCAR WONDER which as a result became badly unbalanced. MONEYMAKER, which was following, shifted out abruptly when checked away from the heels of SOLAR UP and OSCAR WONDER. M Chadwick was advised to ensure that there was sufficient room when attempting to improve into runs. Shortly after entering into the Straight, EVER BEAUTY raced tight between TOUCH GO and LAGO EXPRESS. Throughout the race, HAWTHORNE travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of SOLAR UP after the race did not show any significant findings. TOUCH GO and SEA THE PEARLS were sent for sampling.
