Racing Incident Report
At declaration time, H Bentley was declared as the rider of both A LA KING and AMAZING NEWS. It was established that H Bentley had a firm commitment to ride A LA KING. As such, the Stewards permitted A Badel to be substituted as the rider of AMAZING NEWS. For this declaration error, H Bentley was fined $2,000.
KUNGFUMASTER PANDA began only fairly.
When being steadied from a wide barrier, YEE CHEONG WARRIOR became unbalanced on jumping when bumped by MISTER ARM which shifted out. After this, YEE CHEONG WARRIOR was shifted across behind runners.
AMAZING NEWS shifted out at the start and bumped V CHEVALIERS. Then from wide barriers, AMAZING NEWS and V CHEVALIERS were steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.
From the outside barrier, LAPUTA was also steadied and shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
When being shifted across behind SMILING CITY passing the 1600 Metres, BULLETPROOF was awkwardly placed close to the heels of that horse when SMILING CITY shifted out marginally.
Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, SUPER RED DRAGON and YEE CHEONG WARRIOR raced tight as YEE CHEONG WARRIOR attempted to shift in to obtain cover. When unable to shift in, YEE CHEONG WARRIOR was then left racing wide and without cover after the 1300 Metres.
Passing the winning post on the first occasion, MISTER ARM was crowded for room between ASIAN ONE and SPEED FAY FAY which shifted in.
Approaching the 1200 Metres, A LA KING commenced to travel keenly and got its head up on a number of occasions. When racing keenly, A LA KING shifted out and raced tight inside MISTER ARM.
For some distance after the 1200 Metres, SMILING CITY got its head up when proving difficult to settle and awkwardly placed behind MISTER ARM.
Approaching the 400 Metres, MISTER ARM raced tight outside A LA KING which attempted to shift out from behind ASIAN ONE to follow SPEED FAY FAY. When unable to shift out, A LA KING was shifted in away from the heels of SPEED FAY FAY, resulting in KUNGFUMASTER PANDA being awkwardly placed close to the heels of A LA KING passing the 400 Metres.
LAPUTA had some difficulty obtaining clear running passing the 300 Metres and near the 250 Metres shifted out and bumped MISTER ARM when attempting to improve into tight running between that horse and A LA KING.
Approaching the 250 Metres, KUNGFUMASTER PANDA was shifted to the inside of SPEED FAY FAY to obtain clear running. KUNGFUMASTER PANDA then raced in restricted room between SPEED FAY FAY and ASIAN ONE until passing the 200 Metres.
A veterinary inspection of SMILING CITY, YEE CHEONG WARRIOR and MISTER ARM immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A LA KING and BULLETPROOF were sent for sampling.
