3 J203  LUCKY TOUCH  06/07/2024   807  LUCKY TOUCH (J203) when questioned, rider stated that the instructions from the outside barrier were to ride his mount in a forward position, particularly with the expected lack of early pace in the event. He said the instructions issued in the event were similar to those issued at the horse’s last start, however, his mount was caught wide in the early stages due to that race being run at a faster pace than in the event. He said as a result his mount settled back on that occasion. He added that approaching the first turn he was able to obtain a position with cover behind the equal leader, but when another runner improved to his outside near the 800M, he was obliged to shift to the outside of a runner as he was concerned that runner would not take him into the race. He said as a result his mount raced wide and without cover from that point before responding only fairly to his riding in the Home Straight. He further stated that, in his opinion, having regard to the manner in which his mount raced in the event, it may be better suited being ridden in a conservative manner in the early stages. Trainer confirmed the instructions issued and stated they were consistent with the instructions at the horse’s last start and also were issued as he felt it would be advantageous to race in an on-pace position on the "C” course. Post-race vet inspection did not show any significant findings - Race 807.
