When questioned regarding his riding in the early part of the Home Straight rider stated that after improving to the inside of a runner approaching the 400M he then elected to shift out to follow the 4th placegetter near the 350M. He said his decision to shift out was influenced by the fact that the 4th placegetter shifted to the outside of the eventual winner and he had expected the 4th placegetter to improve into the race. He added when the 4th placegetter did not quicken as he had expected he then eased his mount near the 300M and shifted to the inside of the 4th placegetter where he secured clear running. After considering his explanation the Stewards found the tactics adopted by rider were reasonable in the circumstances, however, the Stewards were of the opinion that his better option would have been to immediately follow the eventual winner through to provide his mount with clear running sooner than it had obtained - Race 770.
4 J230  TIMES TABLE  08/06/2025   740  TIMES TABLE (J230) jumped only fairly. After the event rider confirmed that he was instructed to hold a more forward position if possible. He said in the early and middle stages his mount was reluctant to improve to the inside of other runners. He said after being held up for clear running near the 400M when being steadied to avoid a runner, his mount finished the race off only fairly. He added that near the 100M his mount again was reluctant to improve between two runners and in that incident made contact with a runner when his mount out slightly. Post-race vet inspection did not show any significant findings - Race 740.
