2 2 BORN TO WIN (BP010) K C Tsang B Jumped fairly and pushed along to lead briefly. Soon settled in 2nd place around on rail after the 1000 M mark through to straight. When asked 350 M out ran on well but was unable to hunt down the winner.
3 8 SILVERBIRD (CB335) D Whyte -- Slowly away and steadily recovered to race 3-wide 4 to 5Ls off leader through to straight. All out 350 M and ran home strongly. Over the concluding stages raced greenly, shifted ground and missed 2nd placegetter by a short margin.
4 5 THE ONLY ONE (CB383) D Dunn B Began well from wide draw, ridden along and steadily shifted in to race 2-wide around 2Ls off leader through to straight. When asked 350 M out made up steady ground but was never going to trouble the 1st three.
5 13 MARK OF EXCELLENCE (CA280) R Quinn SR- Began awkwardly from wide draw. Soon raced in rear section and steadily shifted in to be 2-wide. 5 to 6Ls down entering straight and ran home strongly from 200 M out to be closest at finish.
6 6 UNIVERSAL STAR (BS188) S Dye -- Broke fairly and soon settled towards the tail and wide. Closer to the rail from 800 M. Made up steady ground in straight and doing best work over the concluding stages.
7 3 MAGNIFICENT (CB390) F Coetzee -- Ridden hard but was unable to match early speed to settle in midfield 3-wide through to straight. When asked 350 M out unable to quicken and stayed on evenly to the line.
8 4 FAST TRACK (CB375) W C Marwing P Slowly away. In the early stages raced very keenly to be in mid-division. Ridden along from 500 M out but never quicken then one-paced in the straight.
9 7 GOOD BOY (CB437) W M Lai -- Niggled along to race in forward position one off from rail through to straight. Under pressure 400 M out but unable to quicken and further weakened after 200 M.
10 12 MONTEGO GREEN (CB366) G Mosse B-/SR Jumped very awkwardly and raced in worse than midfield section around 3-wide. When asked 400 M out did not quicken and stayed one-paced to the line.
11 11 GOLDIE (CB117) O Doleuze V Began fairly and settled in mid-division on rail through to straight. When asked 400 M out found nothing and further weakened after 200 M.
12 10 LUCKY BIRD (CB342) C Williams -- Missed the start and unable to muster early speed to settle at the tail on fence through to straight. Never a factor and ran past couple of beaten horses.
13 14 SUN TZU (CB099) H K Yim -- Began well but was unable to match early pace to settle in rear section on rail. Hard ridden to maintain position from 600 M and soon faded after the 400 M mark.
14 9 UNIVERSAL FLAIR (CB285) E Legrix -- Broke well and ridden along to be in midfield towards the outside. Commenced to weaken in the latter part of the turn and weakened badly in the straight.
