2 8 SUNBELL (CB391) J Quinn -- Jumped fairly and pushed along to race in midfield on fence through to straight. Responded well when asked 350 M out but was unable to match speed with winner to settle for 2nd place.
3 4 KIMBERLEY MINES (CA367) C Williams -- Tardy start and soon recovered to race in midfield or worse on rail. Niggled along to maintain position turning for home. All out 300 M out and made up steady ground inside final 250 M but was no match for the 1st pair.
4 14 BOWIN (CB398) G Schofield -- Niggled along to race in midfield 3 wide. Approaching the 1000 M was hampered and carried wider without cover. Remain in similar position to straight under pressure 350 M and kept on fairly without threatening the placegetters.
5 12 SPINNING CITY (CB252) D Dunn B Soon settled in worse than midfield 3 wide. When making the home turn hung out badly. Under pressure 400 M out and made up little ground inside final 200 M to be closest at finish.
6 1 NOBLE FALCON (CC035) D Whyte -- Broke fairly and niggled along to race in better than midfield 2 wide through to straight. Unable to quicken when asked 350 M out and kept on evenly to the line.
7 2 TRICCOLO (CA247) W C Marwing B Pushed along to race in midfield 2 wide through to straight. Baulked from top of straight and only able to obtain clear running at 150 M. Made up little ground thereafter.
8 11 NOBLE MAN (CC099) A Marcus -- Slowly to begin, clipped heels and blundered shortly after. Soon recovered and raced keenly in worse than midfield 2 wide. Switched out on straightening to obtain clear running but only able to run on evenly to the line.
9 9 SAINTLY PARTNERS (BV292) A Delpech -- Soon settled in rear section 2 wide through to straight. Shifted to the outside to find running but failed to quicken and stayed one-pace to the line.
10 7 LOYAL DEVOTION (BV075) Y T Cheng -- Began well from wide draw and steadily eased to the rear section on rail through to straight. After the 300 M was checked when crowded for room and stayed one-pace thereafter.
11 13 UPBEAT (CC347) S Dye -- Raced in worse than midfield 3 to 4 wide. Niggled along to maintain position and carried wider at home turn. Only ran on evenly in straight and slightly weakened inside final 200 M.
12 10 SOUNDS BETTER (CC104) K T Yeung -- Jumped awkwardly and pushed along to take lead on rail. Headed shortly after the 1000 M mark and raced 3Ls off leader to straight. Unable to quicken and steadily faded inside final 200 M.
13 3 SOLAR EMPIRE (CB299) W M Lai -- Raced in better than midfield 3 wide. Went forward to take lead at 1000 M with 3Ls advantage to straight. Found nothing when asked 350 M out and weakened quite quickly inside final 200 M.
14 6 BY MEMORY (CD053) R Fradd -- Tardy start and soon raced in rear section 3 wide. Switched to the widest on straightening to find clear running but failed to make any impression in straight.
