8 NIGHTLIGN (CJ145) H W Lai -- Out fast, took a trail on noted speedster, always travelled in run, aided by bias, loomed up 2 wide at 400 M, dashed fast and soon put paid to rivals, took it a bit easy last 200 M in scoring a comfortable win.
14 ABLE TOO (CJ159) M Nunes -- Wasn't great to begin, pressed on and worked across to settle without cover 3 wide 3Ls back, always working in run, improved on turning, stuck to task in straight doing best late to finish a handy 2nd. Nice debut.
6 ENTHUSED (CH303) D Whyte -- Awkwardly away, ended up first without cover 2 to 3Ls back, progressed gradually on bend, made a challenge at 400 M with winner but outsprinted, stuck to task and kept giving to hold a solid 3rd.
9 BEAR MACHO (CG152) G Boss -- Out in line, proved difficult to settle in a midfield role 5Ls back in 2 wide line, back between horses on bend, took run at 300 M, made even progress down middle to make frame.
12 JIANG JUN (CE281) C W Wong XB/TT Ordinary jump, ridden along early just to hold spot at rear, 10 or so lengths back by midpoint, still well down on turning, made plenty of ground between horses in straight reeling off fast sections for a remarkable 5th.
5 HIGH POINT (CH215) D Beadman -- Began in line, took a midfield role 4 or so lengths back, travelled keenly between horses throughout, close enough on turning, cut back to inside and made good progress to 200 M but could only hold ground last bit.
4 COUNTRY MUSIC (CD035) F Coetzee XB/TT Allowed to drift back from a wide alley, posted 3 wide 8Ls from pace, couldn't get closer in mid-section, forced 4 wide on bend, made good ground against bias down middle to be closest at finish.
10 ELEGANT WIN (CG297) M Du Plessis B Standard jump, drifted back to settle 8Ls or so back in running line, bias against, still well back on bend, held up at 300 M, made good progress from an impossible spot to be closest at finish.
7 VENI VEDI VICI (CJ081) B Prebble TT Lacked early pace after jumping with them, faded to race in rearward division 8Ls back on fence, not helped by bias but pace suited, took inside runs turning, held up significantly to 200 M, too late to be a factor when clear.
1 LIBERAL'S KNIGHT (CE272) K T Yeung -- Out in line, took a prominent role 3 to 4Ls back on rails, had a soft trip on bend, lacked a dash at business end and dropped off last 200 M.
11 SICHUAN HERO (CJ044) Z Purton XB-/B1 Standard jump, raced 6Ls back on rails, used little in run but bias against, on bridle on bend, still in behind horses on turning, never improved in straight and just battled away late.
3 NATURAL BLITZ (CE227) P H Lo TT Fast away, led them with ease as usual, kept a solid pace on, advantaged by bias towards leaders, held a 1L break on turning, quickly overhauled and dropped right out late.
13 ACHILLES OF TROY (CJ190) W M Lai -- Tardy to begin, ended up racing 3 wide behind midfield, bias against, 5 to 6Ls back on bend, struggling on turning, never posed a threat in straight simply battling to line.
2 REGENCY HORSE (CE229) E Saint-Martin B/TT No early pace, posted 4 wide without cover, 5Ls back always working in mid-section, under pressure on turning, faded out easily after a tough run.
