Racing Incident Report

HURRAY jumped awkwardly. SMILING UNION left the gates badly and lost ground. For a short distance near the 700 Metres, CORE PRINCIPLES was awkwardly placed between WORD OF HONOUR and TIME WELL. Just before the 200 Metres, SUPER SPLENDID was steadied and shifted out when disappointed for running inside HOLLYWOOD STAR. Near the winning post, STAR OF HONG KONG (Apprentice S K Sit) shifted in abruptly to find running. As a consequence of this inconvenience was caused to SMILING UNION. Apprentice S K Sit was told he must exercise far more care when shifting ground. In the Straight, MAGIC STAR hung in. When questioned, E Saint-Martin (HOLLYWOOD STAR) said tonight was the first time he had been on the horse, he had been advised by the Trainer that HOLLYWOOD STAR can pull, he must ensure that it is not too close in the run and try to give the horse some chance. He said HOLLYWOOD STAR left the gates slowly, shifted in and then running towards the first turn he was awkwardly placed just inside the heels of CORE PRINCIPLES and was not able to improve to be travelling directly behind TIME WELL. After this CORE PRINCIPLES shifted onto the rail and from before the 400 Metres until straightening he was held up behind CORE PRINCIPLES, not able to improve. He pointed out on straightening he shifted in to improve inside CORE PRINCIPLES, but that horse which was hanging in shifted ground and he was not able to ride HOLLYWOOD STAR in his normal fashion until after the 200 Metres. He did point out SUPER SPLENDID in the Straight came from behind HOLLYWOOD STAR to finish in front of him. The explanations submitted by E Saint-Martin tonight were recorded, but he was told his riding at certain stages had come under some notice. CORE PRINCIPLES was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
