Racing Incident Report

DR MORE left the gates awkwardly with its head up, shifted out and bumped RED PEPPER. Just after the start, OVATION shifted out slightly and bumped the hindquarters of ZIETENGO BOY which slipped behind, shifted out and bumped LUCKY SIX. About the 900 Metres, LIFELINE EXPRESS shifted out to avoid crowding to LUCKY SIX. This caused some inconvenience to SUPER MOLLY which was momentarily obliged to race wider. Near the 600 Metres, LIFELINE EXPRESS shifted out to go forward, in doing so made contact with SUPER MOLLY. D Whyte (LIFELINE EXPRESS) was charged with careless riding [Rule 100(1)] for permitting his mount to shift in near the 200 Metres when not clear of DR MORE. As a consequence of this, DR MORE was checked. The Stewards deliberated on the matter, took full account of all the evidence and the significant submissions which were put by D Whyte. However, after considering all the factors, they did decide the charge could be sustained and accordingly found him guilty. Again after taking into account all submissions put by D Whyte, the Stewards in the special circumstances of this case decided that the appropriate penalty was for his licence to ride be suspended until Monday 19 November 2001 on which day he may resume race riding (3 Hong Kong race days). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Happy Valley meeting next Tuesday 6 November 2001. About the 200 Metres, TRIPLE EXPRESSO was steadied when held up behind OVATION. TRIPLE EXPRESSO was then not ridden out right to the winning post as it was improving and racing close to the heels o LIFELINE EXPRESS.
