Racing Incident Report

After arriving at the Start, E Legrix reported to the Veterinary Surgeon that CHAMPION SPEED coughed during the preliminary. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, trotted up, no coughing was noted and after the necessary consultations was considered suitable to race. After the race, CHAMPION SPEED was examined by the Veterinary Officer. An endoscopic examination was carried out. This showed mucus in the trachea of the horse. Before CHAMPION SPEED can race again, it will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. CHATER LANE began awkwardly and bumped the outside of its stall. From the outside gate, PEARL AND GOLD was immediately steadied and shifted across behind runners to a position on the fence. Just after the winning post on the first occasion, INCREDIBLE got its head up when being steadied to avoid the heels of SUPER WONGCHOY which shifted in. On straightening, MR PRESIDENT and TELECOM TYCOON bumped. J Spencer (TREASURE FIELD) said the riding instructions he received were to lead if the horse was able to do so without being pressured, however, he was not to make use of the horse in the early stages and if the pace was solid, he should ride the horse behind the speed. He said in accordance with those instructions he ensured TREASURE FIELD began well, then rode along for a short distance, however, it soon became aware to him that GANBATTE was being ridden along to his inside to go forward and MANSFIELD STAR to his outside was also being ridden forward. He said because of this he anticipated the pace would be solid and elected to allow TREASURE FIELD to settle in 4th position. The explanations submitted by J Spencer were accepted. CHATER LANE, MR PRESIDENT and SUPER WONGCHOY were sent for sampling.
