Racing Incident Report

LUCKY SABRE was withdrawn on 12.4.03 on veterinary grounds (lame right fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter VICTORY MARBLE (Apprentice P H Lo). Before being permitted to race again, LUCKY SABRE will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. PEAK POWER began awkwardly, causing B Prebble, its rider, to become unbalanced. CLASSIC MASTER was slow to begin. MAN OF HONOUR began awkwardly. In the early and middle stages, KIDDYLAND proved difficult to settle and throughout the race was obliged to race wide and without cover. Near the 300 Metres, HIMALAYA was steadied when disappointed for running between KIDDYLAND and CLASSIC MASTER which shifted out slightly. At the 200 Metres, HIMALAYA was steadied away from the heels of KIDDYLAND which was shifting in. HIMALAYA was then steadied and shifted to the inside of CLASSIC MASTER to obtain clear running and go forward. After the 200 Metres, S Dye (DARWIN) had the whip knocked from his hand by the whip of Apprentice P H Lo (VICTORY MARBLE). Over the concluding stages, SIROCCO shifted out under pressure. Also over the concluding stages, MAGNIFIER and HELENE MOMENTUM raced tight and brushed. DIAMOND DANCER was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of DIAMOND DANCER after the race did not show any significant findings. HELENE MOMENTUM, SIROCCO and MAGNIFIER were sent for sampling. After the race, it was noted HIMALAYA had sustained a laceration to its left front leg.
Additional Veterinary Report (released on 14 Apr. 2003) :
A veterinary examination of DIAMOND DANCER, which performed poorly, immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. DIAMOND DANCER was again examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer this morning at the stables of Trainer A S Cruz and at this time was noted to be lame in the left fore leg.
Before being permitted to race again, DIAMOND DANCER will be required to pass an official veterinary examination.
