Racing Incident Report

WINNING PARADE was withdrawn on 15.4.03 on veterinary grounds (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter FAST TRACK (F Coetzee). Before being allowed to race again, WINNING PARADE will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. SHOGUN was slow into stride. WOODSON was slow to begin and shortly afterwards was checked when crowded between FAST TRACK which on jumping knuckled and shifted in and SPIRITUAL KING which began awkwardly and shifted out. Near the 1000 Metres, FAMOUS BRAND was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of PROFIT DAY. Also near the 1000 Metres, GOOD TIME FOR ALL, which was inclined to lay in, was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of AFICIONADO and tight inside APPLIED SUPREME which shifted in slightly. No action was taken. At the 300 Metres, GOOD TIME FOR ALL was shifted to the outside of FAMOUS BRAND to obtain clear running. At the 200 Metres, SPIRITUAL KING was steadied and shifted abruptly to the outside of AFICIONADO to obtain clear running and continue going forward. Throughout the race, PROFIT DAY was obliged to race wide and without cover and making the turn after the 700 Metres hung out. D Whyte (SHOGUN) explained he had been instructed to lead on the horse tonight. He said SHOGUN began only fairly and he rode his mount hard in the early stages to carry out his instructions. D Whyte said at all times when he had previously ridden SHOGUN, his riding instructions had been the same, however, at its last start after being drawn towards the middle and not beginning well, he was not able to carry out his instructions on that occasion. SHOGUN, FAST TRACK and COSMO STAR were sent for sampling.
