Racing Incident Report

SPECTACULAR HIT was slow to begin. SHENANEGAN began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of DAILY BREAD. HEALTHY WEALTHY began awkwardly and struck the outside gate of its stall. Because of this, R Fradd, its rider, lost the use of his left stirrup which he retained shortly after the start. When the gates opened, WONDERFUL MOMENTS bounded in the air, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of NOBLE ZOOM. From a wide gate, JOYFUL WORLD was obliged to race wide and without cover throughout. At the 1000 Metres, JOHNNY JUMP UP, which was proving difficult to settle, initially got its head on the side and shifted in away from the heels of HEALTHY WEALTHY and then for some distance afterwards got its head up and continued to race awkwardly inside the heels of HEALTHY WEALTHY. At the 900 Metres, DOLPHIN STAR was severely checked when crowded for room by RED BARON which when proving difficult to settle got its head on the side and shifted in abruptly away from the heels of NOBLE MAN. Although the check to DOLPHIN STAR was one of some significance, the incident in the opinion of the Stewards was accidental. In the middle stages, JOHNNY JUMP UP hung out and near the 600 Metres was awkwardly placed inside the heels of PREMIER EXPRESS. Making the Home Turn, WONDERFUL MOMENTS hung out. Shortly after straightening, HEALTHY WEALTHY was shifted wider on the track in an endeavour to find clear running and near the 200 Metres was steadied and shifted out further away from the heels of HIGHLAND DAWN which got its head on the side and shifted out. This caused some inconvenience to PREMIER EXPRESS. After this, HEALTHY WEALTHY commenced to hang out. R Fradd (HEALTHY WEALTHY) pleaded guilty to a charge of having breached Rule 100(2) in that he failed to ride his mount out to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stewards. R Fradd was fined $20,000. NOBLE MAN and DAVE'S BEST were sent for sampling.
