Racing Incident Report

When the gates opened, TSZ WAN FORTUNE bounded in the air and lost ground. PERFECT PARTNER began awkwardly. From the outside barrier, STAY YOUNG was immediately steadied and shifted across behind runners to the fence and then improved its position to be racing about midfield. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, TSZ WAN FORTUNE, which had been ridden to improve its position and had commenced to over-race, was steadied when crowded for room inside GREEN CENTURY which when racing tight inside DANHERO was steadied back to obtain a position on the rail behind LUCKY STALLION. In the circumstances, no action was taken. Near the 300 Metres, PERFECT PARTNER shifted out and brushed ALL THE BEST. In the Straight, STAY YOUNG hung out and near the 200 Metres shifted ground and was steadied away from the heels of ALL THE BEST. Near the winning post, ALL THE BEST, which was giving ground, was brushed by STAY YOUNG. C Williams (FLOREAL DREAM) said he had been instructed to ride the horse in a rearward position and make sure it closed the race off. He said in the early stages FLOREAL DREAM hung in, then making the turn at the 800 Metres commenced to hang out. He said he endeavoured to have FLOREAL DREAM quicken before straightening, however, the horse did not respond to his riding and on straightening changed stride and he immediately became concerned with the action of the horse, therefore he did not ride it out. He said after the race FLOREAL DREAM appeared sound in its action. FLOREAL DREAM was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, FLOREAL DREAM was examined by the Veterinary Officer. No significant findings were made. The performance of FLOREAL DREAM was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, FLOREAL DREAM will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. PERFECT PARTNER and ALWAYS WIN were sent for sampling. After the race, it was noted PERFECT PARTNER had sustained a laceration to the right hind cannon.
