Racing Incident Report

On jumping, TEMMOKU stumbled. PEAK POWER was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, DASHING WINNER was bumped by JAZZ BEAT which got its head on the side and shifted in away from KA KA WIN. Making the Home Turn, FLYING BISHOP was held up and unable to improve when behind SANGREAL and inside the heels of DAVE'S BEST. In the Straight when giving ground, SANGREAL hung in. Also in the Straight, LUCKY HANDS got its head up and hung out. For the majority of the race, SHANE raced wide and without cover. C Williams (LUCKY HANDS) said when the horse had its first start in Hong Kong, it was very calm and relaxed and travelled kindly although a little greenly in the run. He said today during the preliminary LUCKY HANDS appeared fired up and after arriving behind the barrier sweated up badly. He said because of the anticipated lack of pace in today's race, the intention was to ride LUCKY HANDS further forward than at its last start. He said after beginning well LUCKY HANDS over-raced and then subsequently failed to finish the race off. The explanation submitted by C Williams was accepted. S Dye (DASHING WINNER) explained the horse proved very difficult to settle in the early stages and hung out badly. He said as he was trying to hold the horse in, its saddle near the 1000 Metres shifted to the right hand side and because of this he was placed at a significant disadvantage. He said DASHING WINNER continued to hang out badly after this. DASHING WINNER and PERFETTO were sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, DASHING WINNER and PERFETTO were examined by the Veterinary Officer. No abnormalities were detected. DAVE'S BEST, MAGIC MAIL and SHANE were sent for sampling.
