Racing Incident Report

ALAKAZAM began awkwardly and then was bumped heavily by CLANG'S PRIDE which shifted out abruptly. This caused ALAKAZAM to become badly unbalanced and lose further ground. On jumping, DESERT STORM and WING FOOT bumped as a result of WING FOOT being carried out by MAGIC TEMPLE which on jumping shifted ground. MULTI RANSOM began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of SIGHT FIRST. After the 900 Metres, BOUNTIFUL got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of DESERT STORM. Making the Home Turn, CLANG'S PRIDE hung out. For a short distance after straightening, SWAGGIE was held up and unable to improve between FREE WAY and WING FOOT which had its head on the side and shifted out. After the 200 Metres, KNIGHT TEMPLAR and NOBLE WIND bumped as a result of both horses shifting ground. In the Straight, NOBLE WIND hung in. Also in the Straight, FREE WAY hung in and after passing the 50 Metres shifted ground and came together with MAGIC TEMPLE. Throughout the race, MULTI RANSOM raced wide and without cover. S Dye (BOUNTIFUL) explained entering the Home Straight he was following SWAGGIE and shortly afterwards noticed that horse was commencing to shift out to improve, he elected therefore to shift to the inside of it where there was clear running available to him towards the fence. He said as he commenced to improve into this position, WING FOOT which was giving ground shifted in, causing him to steady his mount and shift out away from the heels of that runner. He said after this SWAGGIE had commenced to shift in to obtain clear running on the inside of CLANG'S PRIDE, he therefore allowed BOUNTIFUL to drift wider on the track while riding it out to ensure that he had clear running. The explanation of S Dye was recorded. C Williams (CLANG'S PRIDE) explained he had discussed the horse's most recent performance with the trainer and it had been decided to apply blinkers in the hope CLANG'S PRIDE would not shift ground in its race. He said subsequently CLANG'S PRIDE had worked impressively when wearing blinkers and the horse was given a good chance today. He said he intended to lead if he was able to do so without having to make too much use of the horse, however, it began awkwardly, he then rode along into a forward position, but decided that for him to continue forward to clear MAGIC TEMPLE would have required him to make too much use of CLANG'S PRIDE. He said when racing outside the leader, CLANG'S PRIDE did not corner well and gave ground shortly after straightening and was most disappointing. He said after the race he discussed the horse's performance with Mr K W Lui, the trainer of the horse, and said at this stage it is intended when CLANG'S PRIDE next races to ride it with cover and save it for one sprint in the Home Straight. The explanation of C Williams was accepted. CLANG'S PRIDE was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, CLANG'S PRIDE was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said there were no significant findings. NOBLE WIND, DESERT STORM and SWAGGIE were sent for sampling. After the race, it was noted BOUNTIFUL had lost its left front plate.
