Racing Incident Report

EASY PUNCH and GREAT IDEA were slow to begin. PRO JOY began awkwardly and shortly afterwards was checked when crowded for room between SUN POWER which shifted out and ARIGATO which got its head up and shifted in abruptly. Shortly after the start, TSUNAMI was bumped by SHOGUN which had its head on the side and shifted in. In the early stages and again in the Home Straight, TSUNAMI hung in. At the 800 Metres, JOYFUL WORLD was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of DO IT WELL which shifted in away from SUN POWER. No action was taken. Near the 600 Metres, PRO JOY was unable to maintain its position between DO IT WELL and GREAT IDEA, both of which shifted ground. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, MANIFEST was steadied away from the heels of KIMBO KID (D Whyte) which when shifting across to the lead steadied. Some inconvenience was caused to SUN POWER which was following MANIFEST. D Whyte was reprimanded and told in similar circumstances he would be expected to allow his mount to continue striding forward to ensure he was properly clear of runners. Near the 500 Metres, MANIFEST shifted out away from the heels of KIMBO KID and bumped TSUNAMI. Shortly after this, MANIFEST was hampered by TSUNAMI which shifted in slightly. Shortly after straightening, TSUNAMI shifted in and bumped MANIFEST. After this, TSUNAMI was steadied and shifted to the outside of SHOGUN. Also shortly after straightening, JOYFUL WORLD was shifted to the outside of SUN POWER to continue going forward. Over about the last 200 Metres, MANIFEST had difficulty obtaining clear running between KIMBO KID and CHAMP DE UNION. Because of this, MANIFEST was not fully tested and was not ridden out to the end of the race as it normally would be. Near the 50 Metres, DO IT WELL became unbalanced and blundered. PRO JOY and ARIGATO were sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of PRO JOY after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, ARIGATO was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was lame in the right hind leg. Before being allowed to race again, ARIGATO will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SUN POWER, KIMBO KID and CHAMP DE UNION were sent for sampling.
