Racing Incident Report

GOLD MASTER began awkwardly, got its head up and bounded in the air. On jumping, REAL THRILLS shifted out abruptly, causing BARAKA and BODACIOUS which had drawn to its outside to be checked severely. Shortly after the start, WEALTHY was steadied when momentarily crowded for room inside QI'S PET. After the 1200 Metres, BODACIOUS got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of JOY AND TREASURE which when proving difficult to settle was steadied away from the heels of WEALTHY. Shortly after this, FLYING KENNY shifted out after being bumped by WEALTHY which itself shifted out. Throughout the race, GOLD MASTER hung out and making the turn near the 800 Metres hung out badly. After the 600 Metres, WEALTHY was steadied when crowded for room between FLYING KENNY which shifted in slightly and SHINING GEM which shifted off the fence from behind BE MY BRIDE. Shortly after this incident, WEALTHY blundered as a result of clipping the heels of FLYING KENNY when awkwardly placed close to that horse. Shortly after straightening, REAL THRILLS was steadied when unable to improve between JOY AND TREASURE and BE MY BRIDE which was giving ground. Approaching the 300 Metres, SHINING GEM was shifted to the inside of MAN ON THE MOON to obtain clear running. At the 300 Metres, SHINING GEM was checked when disappointed for running between HARVEST which was giving ground and MAN ON THE MOON which when also giving ground shifted in abruptly after being bumped by QI'S PET which had its head on the side and shifted in after initially being carried in slightly by ISLAND SPIRIT which at this time was inclined to hang in. In the circumstances, no action was taken. M Rodd (REAL THRILLS) explained after entering the Straight he initially was going to improve on the inside of JOY AND TREASURE, however, when that horse shifted in, he then shifted to its outside. He said after positioning himself on the outside of JOY AND TREASURE, near the 300 Metres he was aware of traffic problems in front of him, he therefore elected to momentarily stop riding in an attempt to be able to establish where he would be able to obtain clear running. P Payne (MAN ON THE MOON) said the horse was on the toe behind the barriers and sweated up badly, however, he felt this was not unusual for the horse. He said after beginning well he went forward as instructed, however, because of the manner in which the race was run he had to make a little bit more use of MAN ON THE MOON to cross and race outside the lead near the 1000 Metres than he would have liked to. He said MAN ON THE MOON then travelled satisfactorily until on straightening, however, commenced to give ground shortly afterwards. He was unable to offer any explanation for the performance of the horse. MAN ON THE MOON was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. REAL THRILLS was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of both MAN ON THE MOON and REAL THRILLS after the race did not show any significant findings. WEALTHY and ISLAND SPIRIT were sent for sampling. After the race, it was noted QI'S PET had sustained an injury to its left eye. Before being allowed to race again, QI'S PET will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
