Racing Incident Report

SENEX was withdrawn on 9.12.04 on veterinary grounds (travel sickness). After arriving at the Start, the cheek strap on the bridle worn by PHOENIX REACH broke. The bridle was replaced prior to the horse being boxed. BRIAN BORU was slow to begin. In the early stages, ROOSEVELT proved difficult to settle and on a number of occasions got its head up. In the early and middle stages, SIMONAS raced wide and without cover. After the 1000 Metes, ROOSEVELT got its head on the side and was inclined to hang in and at the 800 Metres was steadied away from the heels of SIGHTS ON GOLD. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, SUPER KID was awkwardly placed close to the heels of WARRSAN. Near the 300 Metres, SUPER KID and WARRSAN were steadied when crowded for room between BEETHOVEN and PHOENIX REACH (M Dwyer) which shifted in when not properly clear. M Dwyer was advised to exercise more care. Near the 200 Metres, T Durcan (IMPERIAL DANCER) dropped his whip. Over the concluding stages, ROOSEVELT was unable to obtain clear running between IMPERIAL DANCER and WARRSAN. Because of this, ROOSEVELT was not ridden out to the end of the race. In the Straight, SIMONAS hung in. SIMONAS was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. ROOSEVELT was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of SIMONAS and ROOSEVELT after the race did not show any significant findings. VALLEE ENCHANTEE, PHOENIX REACH and SIGHTS ON GOLD were sent for sampling.
