Racing Incident Report
ABSOLUTE CHAMPION was withdrawn on 16.12.04 on veterinary grounds (tied up) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter OKANAGAN. Before being allowed to race again, ABSOLUTE CHAMPION will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. WINTROW began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of OKANAGAN. ABLE CHOICE was slow to begin. WYNDAM EASY was a little slow to begin, then despite being hard ridden failed to muster speed. In the middle stages, GAUCHO was inclined to lay out when racing without cover. At the 400 Metres, MY CHOICE was inconvenienced by GAUCHO which shifted out after being bumped by COUNTRY MUSIC which shifted away from HONOUR SUPREME. Near the 300 Metres, GRAND DELIGHT was steadied and shifted to the outside of PAOBRIDGE to go forward. Apprentice P H Lo (GRAND DELIGHT) said he had been instructed to ensure the horse began well and then allow it to obtain a position with cover. He said after the 1000 Metres SPECIAL KING PRAWN crossed him to race on the fence and he obtained a position he wanted. He said making the turn at the 800 Metres GRAND DELIGHT was inclined to hang out and at the same time was racing tight inside HONOUR SUPREME which at this time was inclined to lay in. He said because of this GRAND DELIGHT was reluctant to hold its position and got further back than he had hoped. COUNTRY MUSIC, FOKINE and MY CHOICE were sent for sampling. The Veterinary Officer reported COUNTRY MUSIC was subjected to an endoscopic examination at the request of the trainer following the race. He said this examination showed a significant amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, COUNTRY MUSIC will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. After the race, the Veterinary Officer also reported that MY CHOICE had lost its left front plate.
